Glad we got Mowbray sorted before this happened, we should be thanking the Sheff Utd board for messing around with this decision

I will let you know when we know who they replace him with. If they replace him with SP I would laugh my bollocks off. That would be good news.

Another crazy decision. OK they didn't go up, but compared to where they were when he took over, he's turned them around completely.

Maybe they are like SISU and don't want to get promoted

Paul Cook would be quite an achievement, given he's just rocked up at Portsmouth.

Seems harsh, would have given him another season myself. Wonder if they already have someone lined up? Can't see why they'd get rid of him if they didn't.

Nigel Adkins seems the obvious choice I think.

I would think it will be Adkins as it is a good club if you can get it moving.

I bet if they do he'll suddenly become the Scottish Mourinho.

Nigel Clough had a win ratio of 57% in his 18 months at Sheffield utd one or the highest of all managers in there history and they get rid of him - the game has gone mad

Makes our appointment of Tony Mowbray even more vital and maybe a bit surprising both these sackings hardly a surprise to me and TM not being tempted to hang about for a bit longer before plumping to stay here says a lot to me.

I can't see Sheff Utd being of any consequence to us bar the 6 points on offer

A 57% win rate sounds good to us as we don't know what it is like. But if he had money to spend in a poor division it means only winning just over half of their games.

Money to spend in our division would make 57% easy for a decent manager.

Only two clubs managed it in a whole season - 63% Bristol and 58% MK Dons

One of of the biggest playing budgets in the League, a dire league may I add. The board wants promotion not romantic little cup runs which ultimately end in nothing. Clough has underachieved given the money spent and the players available to him. Did the same at Derby, then McClaren comes in mid-season and takes the same team to a Play-Off final. Far too defensive and cautious a coach for me. United fans not surprised either.

How much money did he spend, didn't they sell Maguire for over 2 million. I cant remember he spending anywhere near that. Might be wrong though

Well you're looking at a high wage budget for starters, then anywhere between £1.5 and £2 million for John Brayford - who is a right back - then they payed fees for Higdon, McNulty, McGahey, Done, Coutts and Adams. In comparison to MK and Preston its a huge difference.

Surprised really especially having shown sense and ambition by purchasing Higdon.
