I don't believe they would have paid anywhere near £1.5-2m for Bayford.

it was nearer the 1.5 million mark than the 2! remember Cardiff brought him for 2.5 million!
Only two clubs managed it in a whole season - 63% Bristol and 58% MK Dons
What was their budget compared to the MK one? And you have told us many times that the player that was voted MK player of the season is crap. He cost them nothing. How many of their players cost anything or were on a big wage for the division?
Clough was allowed to put a squad together that should have got promoted. They should have been up there with Bristol City. He failed. I would guess that they already know who they want to take over. They are a big club to be down where they are. The pressure will be on whoever takes over.
I'd be very surprised, if it was that high
This suggest Cardiff paid £1.5m for him http://m.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/23456875 which probably comprised of clauses that were never paid
Remember he wasn't wanted and Cardiff were keen to get him off their wage bill, 2 1/2 years left on his contract. I'd be surprised if it was a high as £400k, as it would have saved a good £1.25m+ in wages (£10k pw for 2 1/2 years) and I imagine Cardiff pay higher than that.

MK Dons would have one of the biggest budgets in the league.
The word from my derby mates is clough is nailed on to take over at pride park.

From what United fans say and what was reported at the time it was at the very least £1.5 million.
Fair enough, but then again we all thought Celtic paid £1.5m for Danny Fox before we found out it was only £700k. If that's what the Sheffield United fans believe so be it, I just can't see a league one side spending £1.5-2m for a fullback, and unwanted one at that.
