Don't expect Kelly to remain in that role. Do we?

Who is the replacement?

Not sure I'd go with that personally.
I'm hoping he'll hardly play.
Club Captain should be playing regular
Isn't that how the club captain normally works? There's the older, getting less games club captain, and then there's the actual captain playing most weeks. Like Noble and Rice. Or have I just decided that myself?

Fadz for me, he's likely to get more game time than Kelly, (unless we actually manage to sign someone) and he's a player the others seem to look up to (and not because he's so tall) and he's a natural leader on the pitch.

You maybe right. Just the idea of a captain hardly playing doesnt sit right with me.

Seem like sentamental stuff to keep Kelly in the role and I thought we wern't going down that route.

Yeah good as. Might work out for the best, Kelly can sort out the fines and comp tickets with all his down time, Fadz the actual captain can do the, errr, motivational speech and handshaking?

It will stay with Kelly if he's still here but he may want to go elsewhere to play more. It seems to have changed at a lot of clubs in recent years. A club captain who doesn't necessarily play and then an on the field captain.

For me its Godden. Godden if fit will play a part in most games.
Dont think Mcafadz will be a regular once we get a couple of decent centre backs in.

Doubt Robin's will change anything though.

I feel like we might be in for a bit of sentiment this season to be honest. Looks like a fair few who were on their way out might now be staying.

Kelly will be club captain

Then McFadzean, Godden, Hyam in that order if he's not on the pitch - same as last season

Don't see what the gain is from changing the status quo currently

Rarely seems to work with having the captain as a striker. I would have thought Hyam was most likely. Maybe too early for Sheaf?

Club captain is clearly a method of inflating wages slightly.

The whole captaincy in football stuff is massively overrated. Do you honestly think that wearing an armband makes some players who would otherwise be quiet start to organise the defence at corner kicks, begin to tell the other players to run around more, or even tell the management at half time that a formation isn’t working? Some players are vocal, some aren’t. Captaincy doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference to that.
