The reason some "flocked to see the Wasps" is precisely because it IS on their doorstep. Had they relocated to Wellesbourne or wherever, very few from Coventry would have gone.

I agree. But you used them to compare our situation if we had to travel again. What I look forward to is seeing what their attendances are when they stop the free
transport. It isn't just the cost of travel but also the organising the travel each game. If you don't drive or don't fancy driving 200 miles for each game you will go less unless you are a diehard. And they haven't been in Coventry for anywhere near long enough to replace these supporters.

Maybe this is the SISU plan. They saw that we wouldn't follow them to Northampton. And Wasps have moved nearly three times as far. So they see the Ricoh as becoming a bargain and white elephant again. And will keep up with the pretense of a new stadium until they see what happens over the next couple of years.

If you are talking about Wasps I didn't use them as an example, I responded to Ashdown's post and I mentioned Bees (different stingy insect entirely)
But yes, if they have even a suspicion that Wasps might struggle they will keep up the pretence.

How far would you travel? Bedworth? Stoke? What if they relocated to Yorkshire? What if they changed the name of the club as well, to say, Wakefield Sky Blues? Would you still support the team and travel every weekend?
What if Sphinx or Cov United then made it into the league? Would you ever support them instead of or as well as Wakefield Sky Blues?

Ok here's my viewpoint. I was born in Coventry. The first team I saw was Sky Blues (barring park football). From that moment, I became and remain Coventry. The first kit I remember was green and black stripes, excluding hand me downs, but always a Sky Blues fan.

Had I been taken to Anfield, Highbury, things may have been different.

Certainly were they to move the kids and the next generation would have no association.

Or put another way; they can wear sky blue, but they'll never be my Sky Blues.

If we only had a handful of fans at sixth fields and the fact that a new stadium cannot be built I wouldn't have thought in the Coventry boundaries - why would our fans treat a new stadium any differently to attending sixth-fields - I would not attend a game outside the Coventry boundaries and personally would treat it like sixth-field and would not attend - therefore where are these revenues going to come from even if the club did build there own stadium - would the club not be better asking the fans if they built a stadium ex miles away would you attend - as i think they maybe shocked with the results

Look at what projections did for Peter Moores and the England cricket team.

the fact remains, and I am not saying some don't have morals etc around where we play, who owns us, what fine upstanding characters we sign or not, if we start winning and are pushing for promotion then we will have crowds of 20k back clambering for tickets. This was evidenced in the JPT cup run which can hardly be classed as continued success.

so forget projections and focus on the right managers and players and the rest will sort itself out regardless of owner as well

No council will want a sports stadium as any available land is being built on with housing currently.

Thankfully it is bullshit, as proved by the freedom of information request. Perhaps a good job for SISU, spend 30 million building it and have only a few superfans who would by then be still going.
