I’ve come to the conclusion that I’ll never win the lottery jackpot (was unlikely anyway) as I have 2 members of my extended family who have won the jackpot. Both circa £6M although one was a syndicate with his best mate so they got about £3M each. For lightning to strike that close twice must reduce your chances
My son-in-law won £10,000 on the Deal or No Deal phone in thing. He didn't even phone in! He entered by post and a few days later they phoned him to say he'd won. The amount won depended on what box was turned over or something like that during the programme. Anyway, it was ten grand!
I won a car (well, I say 'car'. It was a bog-basic Fiesta) in the works lottery at the back end of the 20th C.
Nothing since.
My late father in law had a nice tickle on Littlewoods 50 odd years ago. Not sure how much, but he bought a detached house in Whitestone and a car with the proceeds, so presumably not too shabby, although certainly not eight draws on a good week!
Won a competition about 15 year ago to win a 'years supply' of Pizza Express pizza.
It was a simple phone in - 'What two ingredients make up a margherita pizza'.
Two weeks later had a phone call to say I'd won and it would be announced on Central News later that day.
I rang the number I was given to claim my prize but the minions at Pizza Express HQ claimed they were unaware of any such competition!
A couple of phone calls later I finally spoke to someone who possessed the ability to distinguish his arse from his elbow and it was acknowledged that they had run a comp and that I was the winner
The reality of the prize however, wasn't quite as good as first stated - Instead we received each month for the next 12 months, a £40 voucher to spend at any Pizza Express restaurant of our choice.
Still not shabby and certainly worth that phone call.
