Really hope he succeeds however, if Frank is given permission to delve into the loan market then Robins really has been given a raw deal. Much like Phil Neal was dismissed, Atkinson hired and given shedloads of cash to spend.

I mean, we had two loans last season and had a Liverpool CM bloke lined-up who then got injured.

I hear what you're saying and I don't want loans; I want Lampard to get these players performing.

We've done it less than before and the reasons for that were made clear and are hard to argue with.

Oh well. It's done now. I am underwhelmed, but of course I will back him 100%.

Can I ask one thing of my fellow Sky Blues fans....even though I know it will be to no avail.

If we win, say the next three games, please don't give it the whole "King made the right decision" stuff and that Lampard is fabulous. Let's not forget the new manager bounce effect and all that.

By the same token, if results don't improve immediately, can we also refrain from saying it's a terrible appointment.

He's here and we have to give him until the end of the season, unless we drop right down the table further and look like we are going to be relegated.

We have to give him time and can't be giving snap judgements on the back of just a handful of results.

Let's hope he's a big success. 🤞
You say underwhelmed ? Not being funny but who else was out there at the time , copper wasn’t available. if we got klopp it’s still a gamble , personally think he’s exactly what we need, if I’m a player I’m buzzing I’m being coached by lampard, expect our midfield to improve , defence ? That’s a totally different matter, really hope he’s the perfect fit for us , decent bloke , deserves it

I'll get my crash helmet on.
Can't help feeling this is some kind of throwback to the old days when chairmen loved to pick famous names rather than the best coaches - shiny toy appointments. Doug does seem a throwback to those chairman that liked to be the central focus of the club.
Hoping it works out but wonder how much time he'll really be given to sort things out.

Agree with you here, however we almost had to see the lack of loans harm us before we see King change his approach on the current 'model'. But agree, would be harsh on MR.

To be fair though Phil Neal did break the club's transfer record to sign Dion Dublin (admittedly after breaking the received transfer in selling Phil Babb)

In terms of the loan market, where King might block Lampard is if he's looking at loans which require a sizeable fee.

At Derby FL would've essentially had a blank cheque book under Mel Morris. He obviously won't have the same luxury here, and if DK doesn't feel it commercially prudent to dedicate budget on what might be sizeable loan fees then he isn't likely to get the targets he wants.

Derby spent £1m to secure the services of Harry Wilson from Liverpool for a season and I would wager Mount and Tomori weren't freebees either.

There is no no ban on loans

We had an agreement to loan a midfielder from Liverpool and just before he was due to sign he got a bad injury.

The King bans loans thing was a lie.

they're just as clueless as some of our fans though so what do they know

Well it's fans from all over the country in fairness .. seems a very large amount of people think this wont end well for us , obviously those same people have been wrong about wayne rooney 😉

Honestly, just having some cohesion between manager (or head coach) and the coaches makes me optimistic for an upturn. For me that was the biggest flag that MR misjudged how we could progress, or at least stop the slide.

So, he did wait for that tough run of games to be sorted before he took over. Great sign of character........
Smart move on his part to wait to take over after those tough games. But if we cannot beat Cardiff (who really suck) and suppose we lose, the Lampard-bashers will be out in full force.

Add it to the pile of lies that became fact.

Sometimes it's interesting to have the outside perspective. Like when Birmingham let Eustace go and hired Rooney, and we all said it would be a disaster.
The situations aren’t comparable in any way. We have a better squad than blues did. Robins had a much better record historically with us than Eustace at Blues, but was doing significantly worse in the season concerned. All Rooney and Lampard have in common is being big name England players- Lampard’s CV is much better. There’s nothing about the situations that are the same really.
