Left (*guardian) and right (*Mail) both pedal negativity just from different angles. This is also echoed on social media bubbles on both sides. I don’t get it myself, especially in the middle of a pandemic. I’ve said before, god knows what would’ve happened if our current media/social media had been around during the world wars....no need for propaganda, our own media would’ve done enough to drag down the morale of the country.
Bizarre but guessing thats what sells/makes money. It’s a bit sad really but that’s the world we live in, people would rather find fault and negatively, than focus on the positives, especially if that negativity is aligned to their usual way of thinking or helps to re-enforce their own views
*just two examples but sure there’s more
For anyone who has been wondering what happens to the other 10% when there's talk of a vaccine with a success rate of 90% this article explains it in terms us non-scientists can understand.
Have to say it does make the idea of everything being back to normal by next summer seem doubtful.Covid-19: Will a vaccine give us our old lives back? - BBC News

why on Earth do people trot out this line about the Guardian representing the left?
It's a centrist left newspaper.
Cheers but with me being too lazy and busy to find things myself I have another question
Let’s say it’s 6 months, then what. Another round or do we expect it to disappear during the immunity period with less potential hosts?
I read online articles in both and I see the Guardian as the Mails equivalent on the other side. Not saying either is far left or far right, just a lot of negativity in both

Eh. Mirror is the Mail I think, Guardian the Telegraph.
The opinion stuff is out there, the news fairly good. They don’t do the outright crap in the news sections like the tabloids.
The same guy that has an irrational hate for Meghan Markle even though he’s never met her...Eamonn Holmes was on TV asking if there was anything to the 5G conspiracies not too long ago, what a sell out!
Looks like the decrease in cases has levelled off or even started to go back the other way, Wales came out of its lockdown and cases are increasing rapidly. Difficult to see how any 'normal' christmas is a realistic idea really with such a high residual case rate (that said my MSOA is down to 69 cases per 100k)
pains me to say it but the 23-27 break seems like a disaster waiting to happen
Do you think that Welsh increase is purely down to coming out of lockdown. Not increased testing or a statistical fuck up? I mean I think I know the answer but it's a scarily quick increase.Looks like the decrease in cases has levelled off or even started to go back the other way, Wales came out of its lockdown and cases are increasing rapidly. They did leap beyond maybe where they should have gone, after coming out of their lockdown. Michael Gove(!) of all people was pointing that out, while justifying England keeping certain restrictions in place.Do you think that Welsh increase is purely down to coming out of lockdown.
