If you look at Italy vs Iran, they correlate more than Italy vs China.
Good to know we're valued!
You are though mate, massively. If, by you continuing to go into work, it means the health and social care workers/parents can get into work and look after the ill/elderly and the shops can keep fully stocked, it’s integral role in this crisis
I really think that if and when this pandemic is contained, there will be a fundamental rethink about how we organise the economyPeople proving to be worth far more than they’re paid: cleaners, care workers, healthcare workers, teachers, delivery drivers.
People proving to be worth far less: politicians, CEOs, edgy newspaper columnists
Not if we are trying to do both at the same time Steve and I have no idea what to tell both my Year 11 classes tomorrow when they ask what the point of doing any work is. That announcement just sent my workload through the roof and it was already too high. We must be the only country doing this.
You are aware that Delta own virgin airlines?I see Gary Neville has announced that his hotel company are handing over their hotels to the NHS from Sunday.
Also announced no hotel staff will be losing their jobs or asked to take unpaid leave.
Amazing gesture. Hang your head in shame Branson you money grabbing wank.

And those volunteers that are now working in our NHS service, putting their health and lives at risk for not a single penny, true heroes.People proving to be worth far more than they’re paid: cleaners, care workers, healthcare workers, teachers, delivery drivers.

Let’s be honest. There isn’t any point. Your job for the next few months is babysitting not education. Speaking of which, will they keep the skeleton service open over holidays? Do they have that power? Not sure what they’ll do over Easter/summer otherwise. I assume most people will be relying on grandparents or leave which may well be cancelled for key workers now.
When we come out the other side of this, these people need to be well looked after and afforded all the love and respect they deserve by every single one of us.Ths poor women and men on the tills at supermarkets as well, getting a constant flow of people in close proximity not knowing whether theyve got corona or not (and getting paid pretty much minimal wage). Fair play to them
Nah, i've done webinars with people in the room and people on the phone / web, piece of piss. That said, it was only talking somebody through how to evaluate a tender.

To make it interesting I also have a Year 13 group, all of whom have spent most of the year earning university offers and so for them I can only imagine this is even more demotivating. Tonight I have 2 sets of marking, 2 lessons to plan, some risk assessments to write and a ton of stuff to put on Teams for the kids who have been off. Better get cracking
I couldn't agree more.Yes! And warehouse workers. The real backbone of this country are a host of hard working people with little workplace protections. I really hope they’re remembered in the aftermath of this.
Even if they're from Sunderland? When we come out the other side of this, these people need to be well looked after and afforded all the love and respect they deserve by every single one of us.
Isn’t it about doing what is best for the entire population, which includes keeping key workers working.Either keep them open or shut them entirely. This half way proposal with schools struggling for staffing as it is, is going to leave us unable to adequately cater for both groups of children. I fully get the difficulties involved for childcare arrangements but I am already being asked to provide digital lessons from home and to do that alongside in school provision is nearly impossible. It isn't fair, sorry to sound fussy or for those on here who are in the health service and have kids at school.
We want to do the best by our students and we will really struggle to do that with these arrangements.
I can only imagine mate. There are days I wish I was still teaching, this is not one of them. Know you’re valued, and don’t forget to look after yourself as well as the kids.
No....Even if they're from Sunderland?

I have put my own wellbeing on the backburner this academic year just because of the workload-now it's been for nothing. And we're about to be asked to work twice as hard. I am having a pint on Friday afternoon come hell or high water
