Its a huge group. My surgery seems to be doing the 65-69 first but not sure if that's something they've decided or something mandated by NHS England. They did have to stop vaccinating for a while before starting the 65-69s at the weekend which they have said was down to NHS England.

I deal with NHS England regularly, an ivory tower organisation that thinks it knows better than experienced people on the ground, funny how Matt Hancock is making noise about wanting more political control. My experience of them is that they're already micro managed by the SoS as it is.I’ve heard a few places say that when they’ve finished a group they have to get the OK that they can move on. NHS England checking they haven’t missed anyone or something.
Seems needless to me, just prioritise those you missed if you need to, but surely don’t stop and wait for anything?
Aren’t they also doing 16-65 with underlying health issues at the same time though? That’s a massive group of about 7m people.
A group of 7 million people, brings it home just how many people ‘of no real age’ are at serious risk from this virus, when people keep repeating the mantra that it only effects the elderly and vulnerable I don’t think they realise just how wide ranging that group actually is.Its a huge group. So come on, any other fat fuckers like me considering upping their calorie intake and aiming for full on morbid obesity to skip the vaccine queue?
listening to the radio today it sounds like they have brought that group forward as it said they are starting them as well so it looks like they are definitely ahead of the game which is great news.
I'm guessing based on the Y axis they're just assuming an 80% uptake and just having this as a total for those groups as opposed the whole population.Just came across this, when I was looking for the impact on rate of first jabs that people needing second jabs would be:

That seems to suggest there's no plans to keep giving first doses to those under 50 until all those over 50/vulnerable have had both their jabs, is that right?

That surely can't be right as people's second jabs would be coming due way before then?
That makes a lot of sense. Still curious what the overall curve looks like then.
When did the programme start? 12 weeks from Dec 20th is March 14th.
I have a 34 year old mate with under lying conditions and he has his last week
Johnson press conference at 5. Wonder if he'll start announcing plan to ease lockdown.
I also think the plan being 'cautious but irreversible' is a ridiculous thing to say. In a situation like this the one thing it needs to be is reversible. If things start going badly again we need to change tack to allow for that.
Pandering to the nutcases again.
Well, if everyone was uneducated, even more people would believe him...And but for them bloody scientists, we'd have been living like Swedes for months...so woe betide (never thought I'd type that on SBT!) anyone who's teachy and sciencey...He knows the dumbasses in the electorate will give him a free pass on any mistakes no matter how many die or how corrupt they are. Just blame it all on teachers probably

Deaths also down 100 to only 203 deaths today.9,765 new cases. Smallest daily rise since October.
Deaths down.on last week. Vaccination program flying.
We're getting there, Let's not do anything stupid now.
I wish I needed to, already flying the flag for the morbidly obese hereSo come on, any other fat fuckers like me considering upping their calorie intake and aiming for full on morbid obesity to skip the vaccine queue?

I think that ‘cautious but irreversible’ comment has been taken out of context. From what I’ve read Johnson was saying the dates to be announced next week will be the earliest for releasing certain restrictions in stages, and if there’s a spike they won’t hesitate to delay stages further.
He wants the progress out of lockdown to be cautious but irreversible ie if they’re careful they shouldn’t hopefully need to lock back down again

Your tireless defence of this government just jumped the shark!!
Im the first to kick Steve for slavish defence of the government but I think he’s right here.

He's going to reopen schools and get a more infectious strain spreading around because he has no spine in resisting the calls of his moron backbenchers. If I weren't at risk of getting sacked because of it I'd refuse to go in on 8th March.
Haha, very rarely is it ‘slavish’, I just try to point out the misunderstandings/misinfo on here Shmmeee
People want to have a go even when what the government is saying/doing is supporting their own view !!!
