Tell you what im not sure many of you have thought of
They carry on panicking like this then none of us will be going back at the Ricoh again
That is really disappointing. Boosters every three months would be difficult and it seems even with the vaccine the risk is higher than we thought originally. It’s the “reduced efficacy after three months post second jab” but that’s worrying me.
April was “second jab month”, which means efficacy will start dropping for the most vulnerable around August time, which is also when the summer lull starts to end. Just hope we can get boosters out I suppose
Higher transmission matters much less if few people end up in hospital

Yea you'd think so and i agree
But its wall to wall fucking bad news this morning. Its never going to end lets face it.

A few points on my mind.
If the vaccine is tried, tested, and perfectly safe, why are we now only learning that it might only last a few months? I'm not being anti-vaxx, just playing devils advocate because it is a bit weird.
Also, if the vaccine does work, then every time there is a new strain are we going to have this circus, until I'm 80 years old. That means restrictions on travel, football, and everything else. What is the point of the vaccine then? Do we get all our freedoms back when all over 18s have had the jab? Will the goalposts move again?
June 21st I am pretty certain isn't going to happen. International travel has been curbed to pre-empt it, and I don't think they are being honest about that either. The rest of Europe will be travelling around from July 1st, and it feels like we will be throwing our vaccine advantage away. We are 10 weeks ahead of most of those countries, for example.
At some stage we have to learn to live with this otherwise it is going to go on forever and ever.
Really feeling the mood of this board today, fucking fed up.

If there's restrictions in place enforce them. Seeing government ministers saying its all perfectly clear and you can't go to amber countries on holiday and then seeing pictures on social media of airports at tourist hot spots packed with British tourists surely shows its not working.Tui says 50% of passengers booked to go to Portugal with the company in June are still planning on travelling.
The remaining half have amended their dates, it says.
The travel firm is not currently offering cancellations for Portugal trips while the Foreign Office does not advise against travel to the country
What a complete mess this traffic lights system is. There was the survey the other day showing a decent percentage of people going to amber countries weren't going to self isolate on return and now this.

It will end but not until it’s been defeated on a global level.Yea you'd think so and i agree

So if they hadn’t put restrictions on you’d still be moaning from the other side of the fence.Gives them an excuse though doesn't it.
'we put restrictions in place but people still went on holiday so it's their fault we have to delay easing restrictions, not ours'
So if they hadn’t put restrictions on you’d still be moaning.
Your a barrel of laughs always finding the negative in everything.
Do you not give the government any credit or do you think another government would be doing any different or better?
Fair comment but I still think any government would have been following the science tbh.No. That's not what I'm saying at all.
I'm saying if they are going to put restrictions in place, which they should, then they need to enforce them. Not make them so wishy washy that people can basically do what they like.
It's not difficult to find the negative in the government's handling of the pandemic.
I give them credit for the furlough scheme. That's about it. Everything else has been a fucking disaster.
a competent government would of not allowed this variant to seed in the uk so anything now is on themSo if they hadn’t put restrictions on you’d still be moaning from the other side of the fence.

I understand where you are coming from on this, but the fact is some people are not so well informed and they just follow what the Government and travel industry say, without thinking through the potential problems. In my view the real fault lies with the Government not the individuals who suffer from their incompetence.No. That's not what I'm saying at all.

I think the confusion, much like the “long term effects!!!” stuff is around how vaccines work.
AFAIK (BSB please correct if needed) the vaccine itself is out of your body within a month or so, after that it’s your immune system doing the job. So on side effects it’s not likely to be an issue after a month because there’s no vaccine to cause a side effect left.
On efficacy it’s how long your immune system keeps the antibody levels up I think.
We are only learning this now because it’s only now that we’ve had the Indian variant and people more than three months past their second shot. We always knew length of effect would be a question, that’s why people like my missus have been having antibody tests regularly since before vaccines were even a thing so we can see how long immunity lasts.
Fair comment but I still think any government would have been following the science tbh.
Following the science would have been to shut down travel from India as soon as their variant began to run wild
Careful, Grendel will call you a racist for this.
This is why I've left it the full 12 weeks between jabs, get my second next Saturday but was given the chance to change to earlier a couple of weeks ago. It’s the “reduced efficacy after three months post second jab” but that’s worrying me.
