Supermarkets looked less manic todayYeah, I braved a Tesco down here. Managed to get everything on my list apart from bog roll (seriously, where is it all). Bread was sold out but there was a proper load in the bakery section that seemed shut so even sorted that. Meat looked bare but that doesn't affect me.
It’s clear Boris Johnson is a fool mate I don’t see him making it out of this oneThis about sums it up- once again we are the source of disbelief and horror from all around the world, this time though its going to have lethal consequences.
'Confused, dangerous, flippant': rest of world pans PM's handling of coronavirus
It’s clear Boris Johnson is a fool mate I don’t see him making it out of this one
Absolutely spot on mate the guys is a foolThere are leaked emails circulating showing that despite all the boasting and promises, not one single request was formally made for test kits from labs until Sunday afternoon, when panicky emails went out to research institutes. At that stage there had already been 335 deaths.
It’s the most catastrophic failure of any government in many decades.
Let's hope it works
They are not accepting any new registrations 'at this time'.You may need to register your parents with Sainsbury’s in some way. The person I know who was contacted via email from Sainsbury’s has a nectar card and according to FP the NHS has shared details with Sainsbury’s (presumably other supermarkets too) of who is classed as vulnerable and self isolating for 12 weeks. I might be going at cross purposes but my assumption is that they’ve compared the NHS database with their own database and contacted people of the NHS list who they have contact details for. The email from Sainsbury’s came totally out the blue so I’m not sure how else they knew to contact her. Might be worth registering any vulnerable relatives for a nectar card if they aren’t already or if they have one but no email address try contacting Sainsbury’s direct and quote their nectar card number to see if they’ll offer an earlier slot.
Rest of world? It’s clear Boris Johnson is a fool mate I don’t see him making it out of this one
Political grip has gone? When did that happen? It’s amazing remembering, unbelievable really that it’s just over three months ago since the GE of the 12th of December which gave us the Tory landslide that put Boris on ten foot of concrete with his 80 seat majority, the opposition massacred enabling him to “get Brexit done” and a free hand to massage his promises of 40 new hospitals, thousands of new doctors and nurses, 20000 new police officers the ending of austerity etc, etc. His and his party’s political grip has gone, ripped away, and when the inquests are held in a few months time of his handling of this crisis he and his cohorts will inevitably pay the price and a new politics will grow, cash deprived areas such as the NHS, the connected social care system local government and low pay will dominate for years to come I believe. We are witnessing through out the country and world even a sort of mixed socialism, not the Jeremy Corbyn version by the way just a common sense version.
Harold Wilson famously said a week is a long time in politics what we are witnessing now is a life time, worldwide.
You forgot to blame Boris. What is it with people ? Youths bating police burning out food delivery vans, is it the “we are tough” guys mentality. They need to take heed with the forces now involved and the court system suspended I can see interment camps springing up and people being thrown in for just being there as happened in Northern Ireland not that long ago, sat in a room for 23 hours a day with only a potty for company.
You are correct this behaviour is not the fault of Boris Johnson and youth behaviour has been deteriorating for a long time, but how far do you go back, I remember mods and rockers terrorising holiday makers and knocking seven bells out of each other, skinheads, all probably grand parents possibly now in danger re this virus, beating defenceless Asians up.You forgot to blame Boris.
This has been coming for years. When I was a kid we were brought up to have respect for authority. Respect other people. Respect other people's property. But over the years it has been depleted. Now the scum have the upper hand. The courts just keep giving them a slap on the wrist. They know the odds are they will get away with it even if they do get caught. They can di what they want because if the law abiding citizens have a go back it is them that get in trouble.
Ah poor little Johnny. Had a hard life. Let's give him another chance. You would think that the older generations that respected authority had it easy.
Forced to? Who forced them? This isn’t political let’s not hide behind that, it’s factual, your, I have to say moronic but typical statement of the monies the Government were forced to put in not by choice I’m tempted to say as face saving. The Government initial handling at best was inept, so much so it was their own in the shape of Ian Duncan Smith and Patrick Jenkin hardly socialist minded politically, who smelt the coffee and told and pleaded them to grab the nettle and quick and up the anti.
As for the opposition, what opposition ? pathetically still involved in a farce of a leadership contest which has conveniently enabled them to keep their heads below the parapet.
As for Boris Johnson, a good job ?? He is the Prime Minister ffs! our leader. Where has the leadership been ? Decisions he has led will contribute to deaths, and yes in his defence situations like this lessons are learnt on the run but even this “lockdown” isn’t a lockdown is it. the lessons from overseas still haven’t been learned.
We shall see.You are correct this behaviour is not the fault of Boris Johnson and youth behaviour has been deteriorating for a long time, but how far do you go back, I remember mods and rockers knocking seven bells out of each other, skinheads, all probably grand parents possibly in danger re this virus, beating defenceless Asians up.
But as I said, leadership, and our PM has the power to lead and use it to to deter escalation, he won’t though.
Did it?After the initial £6billion promised in the budget within days, days ffs. that was increased to over £300 billion coincidently after the likes of Jenkin and Ian Duncan Smith and others rattled the cage, Cabinet changed tack massively in days, the facts of the situation forced them.
Trump never surprises me. He makes Boris look 100% competent. He is on a power trip and doesn't have a clue what is going on. The yanks are worse than us for putting forward those to run the country that shouldn't be anywhere near authority.Just when you think that Trump cannot get any more idiotic .......
"Easter is a very special day for me... and you'll have packed churches all over our country."

My son is a Doctor on the Covid19 wards. He doesn’t have the right protective equipment. There is not enough ventilators and he and his colleagues expect to get ill.
As a country we are woefully under resourced for what we are facing. This can be attributed to 10 years of under funding the NHS from the government.
As a country, we voted for a government that did this, so we have ourselves to blame.
As a country we got our priorities wrong. Look at the behaviour of government and people it’s been personal gain as the over riding culture.yet they still carry on, amazing dedication. Fair play to your son and his colleagues. Lets hope they are given what they need to keep them safe.

Moral cleansing.Couldn't agree more. If one good thing comes out of this maybe as a society we have a little look at the way we do things.
That doesn't mean we forget about rewarding hard work or entrprenueralship,
But may be we don't skew the system so there's nothing left in the pot for the greater good and corporation's and speculators don't take the piss.
And now instead of pitched battles they stab each other.I don’t think anyone is blaming Johnson for the state of British youth are they? I don’t really ever know if they are actually that bad or if it’s just the natural way of things. “When I was their age” you had people going around with Stanley knives slicing up each other’s faces & spent Saturdays destroying shops & having pitched battles.

Who currently gain most in our society? It’s generally not the wealth creators like entrepreneurs.
It’s people who make the laws, the bankers who feed off the risk takers and wealth creators all served by having a parliament full of ex-lawyers and bankers. The past and current chancellor’s are both ex-bankers who worked for the banks that caused the 2008 crash and led to austerity. They are led by a PM who studied classics at university!
