All the anti Boris brigade this morning...
Given that this is a Coventry City forum and the residents of this forum have more than likely been born and raised in our fair city, like me, we are all aware the Coventry is a socialist city and it is one the easiest places to be elected if you are wearing a red Rosette.List of people more important than NHS workers:
Charlie boy
Boris
Rich folk
Hang on a minute

I left Coventry in 1978 for work and had completed 2 years at college and gone through a catholic schooling(wiseman if you ask) and had a father who was a trade unionist to his core.
I have never cut my cord with Coventry, mainly through our team but to a lesser extent family and I would like to ask a question?
What the fuck did labor ever do for Coventry?
We have had closures of industries, heart ripped out of communities both under labor government and councils. Prominent mp's such as Wilson and Robinson and Crossland.
Where has it ever been positive?
I am not convinced at all by the sneering and finger pointing because frankly I don't see where socialism has proven itself to be better for Coventry.

You really need to read what I asked. Labor. Coventry. Socialism. You really need to learn the difference between local and national government and their respective powers.
Seem to make a complete mess of everything and yet still get the vote. 181 deaths. 50% daily increaseahead of trend.
As of 9am on 27 March 2020, a total of 113,777 people have been tested, of which 99,198 were confirmed negative and 14,579 were confirmed positive.
As of 5pm on 26 March 2020, 759 patients in the UK who tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) have died.
Age breakdown?
Call me an old cynic but could Johnson, Hancock et al be swerving the press updates as this shit starts to get real, or am i being too unkind.181 deaths. 50% daily increaseahead of trend.
It’s been very low in the last few days so has to spike at some point in time. The breakdown of London and non London would be the most significant thing
Wasnt it supposed to be done at 5?jesus- we are long way from any peak yet.
I don't really know what to say and it feels strange typing it, but sympathies to all affected.
Thank you for responding Shmmeee. I am sorry to have seemingly touched a nerve. I asked a question and did not rant.I read it. Firstly you can’t spell Labour. Secondly you can’t institute socialism in a single city under the legal and budgetary constraints of a local authority. Thirdly it’s not the socialist wing of the Labour Party that has been running the city for however long.
Finally Coventry isn’t anything like as bad as you make out. Most of the things you mentioned were nothing to do with the local authority.
It was an ill informed rant that bears no relation to reality. We aren’t talking Liverpool council in the 80s FFS and even if we were the funding agreements, control over services, and powers available to LAs is nothing like it was.
Your views are decades out of date.
It's based on the position at 5pm yesterdayWasnt it supposed to be done at 5?
Thank you CVD but the motor industry was in decline long before Thatcher. The blame may well rest with Heath but from my memory as a teenager my father was on strike for monthas at a time. Never in Winter though! Funny that....The decline in industry mainly relates to manufacturing which has been on the decline nationwide since Thatcher and her policies have played a huge part.
Having said that, Coventry is still a reasonably successful city though I don't attribute that to the council.
Wasn't a challenge to you or anyone, but a question based upon my ignorance. How was anything I said a suggestion that Coventry had benefitted from the Labour Party? If you must know historically the council funded schools in the city better than in neighbouring areas and they continue to receive higher grants.
While every death is tragic it seems to be within the expected amountsIt’s been very low in the last few days so has to spike at some point in time. The breakdown of London and non London would be the most significant thing
