My guess is the restrictions will be relaxed by the end of May. Kids back at school for the final half term.

My worry is we’ll need to do this all again for the usual flu season so we could all be locked up over Xmas and into February.

The economic side effects and those on family life will be huge.

Society will be very different after this and I’m not sure we have any idea what the long term ramifications will be.
Many kids not back though. My daughter had GCSE's coming up, so would have taken her exams in May and finished school in May.

Now she is stuck at home until September.

They are still track an tracing people after confirmation of someone new contracting it! It works as well! a department should be setup and manned to carry this on when the lockdown is lifted. Employ lots of people to do it, they proved they can pay because of what they are doing for the people getting 80% from the coffers it will takeup the slack of people who have lost their jobs because of the virus

I think by all accounts we traced and tracked better at the very early stages ensuring those that had it (and those they might’ve passed it onto) self isolated....and encouraged calling 111 rather than people attending GPs etc. Subsequent policy to try to keep those that have minor/less serious symptoms at home rather than attending GPs or hospitals may also have helped

We will obviously start to have much higher numbers (cases and deaths unfortunately) in the coming day’s but I hope not at those levels

ps Singapore have got a relatively low population but done a great job. Better comparison is South Korea who have been excellent so far

By all accounts our track and trace on the first case was exemplary and stopped the outbreak spreading. In Italy at least I believe it was a while before they even know it was there.

he's fucked his business up by being like this! The second Mr Ratners if you ask me. The biggest exponent of Brexit and he treats his staff like this!! my God he is shit!
The problem is that a lot of his customers wanted him to stay open. They are the same people that didn't want to stay inside. Then many will still forget because of the cheap beer on offer.

This

We nailed the containment stage where as Italy couldn't find their patient zeros.

Also I read that in Italy you have to go to the doctors each day you want a paid sick day. If so that would help spread the virus.

Also they have had major fuck ups like the lockdown plans geing leaked that meant infected people from the north spread around the country

I saw him in the City arms last year, dressed like a tramp and taking pictures of the pay and display signs in the car park.
Some weapon getting a selfie with him.

As much as anything I'm pissed off that twice now he's tried to use his pubs as a vehicle to push his political agenda.
And I'd say the same if he was pushing an agenda I agree with, people go out to have pint and relax, not to have opinions forced down their throats, if people want to discuss politics then that's up to them but a pub owner shouldn't be sticking their propaganda on the fucking beer mats.

I'm hoping that something good to come out of this is the end to the fucking brexit culture war which means people listen to any old arsehole so long as they are on the same side of the debate.

Tim Martin is really thick isn’t he? Saw him once on question time and he seemed an utter simpleton

The paid sick day note got suspended quite quickly.

It’s too early to tell about the spread south as the cases are still overwhelmingly in the northern regions.

Here they’re emphasising the importance of focusing on the new infections at this stage.

he's obviously done incredibly well in building up his pub business and I admire what he's done and take my hat of to him but I'm not sure why the media thinks that entitles him to a platform to spout about anything and everything when clearly he hasn't got expertise in those fields.

think he's paying them now.
One of the breweries he owed was Brian Moores the ex rugby player who has a lot of followers on Twitter and tweeted about it so he was getting a lot of bad publicity.
The lat couple of weeks has been a PR nightmare for him.

And don’t forget the newsletter made to look like a regular thing which was thinly disguised propaganda and sent to many households in the U.K.

The problem is the brexit culture war is just an extension of the overall culture war which has dozens of well funded think tanks in the US and over here pushing it relentlessly and scores of media pundits pushing it as their full time profession. Then there’s all the social media bit networks!
