If China hadn't been maligned by Trump for four years , same with Europe they may get a harder time .I just think its ironic that a lot of the people gathering on here daily to slate our government are jumping through hoops to defend the barbarians in charge of China. It seems we'll have to agree to disagree and obviously I wish you all well and hope we'll eventually get to see CCFC lift the league one trophy together.

So we shouldn't ever criticise cultural practices just in case someone thinks its racist?I’m not seeing any criticism of the Chinese government just cultural Chinese practices. That is dictionary definition racism.

No I don’t mean that, I’m not talking domestic politics now- I’m talking about how the world changes following this pandemic.Except our government has to have some form of transparency - if Chris Whitty spoke against the government I don’t think he’d be sent to jail and die of the virus a week later

You mean how people and media point the finger at China to distract from our own government’s failings? That’s a door that swings both ways.Deflecting criticism is a form of defense... albeit a poor one.

He didn't say that, he said any criticism is racist. Also who decides if theres a hidden agenda or not? People are all free to criticise anything they wish. In certain countries anyway.we should be free to criticise, but we also need to be careful those criticism aren't been driven by a hidden agenda.

The Chinese government have alleged that there are no more deaths in the country. They have claimed the outspoken science officer who criticised the government died of the virus following his arrest. Do you believe that?
I can’t see how criticising a society that refuses any sanctions on animal cruelty van be seen as racist
Exactly, faux animal rights bollocks is just an excuse to attack the Chinesehe did and I don't agree.
And you can work the hidden agendas out for yourself.
For example when the far right start championing gay rights in order to push an anti Muslim agenda. We all know the far right couldn't give a fuck about gay rights, quite the opposite. .
Salmonella? It’s a natural bacteria in the guts of poultry and other types of animals in the food chain. Dozens die each year in the U.K. from it but the government hasn’t stopped us consuming it (the infection rate and death rate in the US is far higher because of their standard practices). Bovine TB? It’s a respiratory virus that passes to humans from a number of animals. Has the government stopped us eating beef and dairy products? Covid19 is a mutation of the Coronavirus which has been around forever. What’s to say bovine TB won’t mutate, become immune to pasteurisation of milk, be more contagious to humans, have more serious symptoms and become a pandemic killing thousands? Same can be said for foot and mouth. I’m sure we all remember the cow bonfires in the U.K.The Uk are entirely responsible for BSE as I have said and had to change its practices as a consequence
It's not a racist statement. Its clearly preferable to live in England rather than China, just as I'm sure there are countries to live in that are preferable to live in over England. Not everything has to be equal.i never said it was.
What I didn't agree with is that we are culturally superior, and I think that is a racist statement.
On animal rights and food hygiene, I think they can learn from us even though we are far from perfect.
Changing it again I see.
He said it was written by the nurse. You agreed. The article said it wasn't written by the nurse. You back him up. You both muddy the water.

we have been discussing animal welfare and hygiene.
I would say yes, we are ahead of the Chinese in that respect and I don't agree with the way they treat animals, even though it's fair to say we're not squeaky clean ourselves.
I would not extend that to our culture is better.

Countries are reflections of their cultures.how is it clearly preferable to live in China? There is no way of measuring that.
I would certainly prefer to live here even though I've never visited China but I wouldn't get anywhere near to putting that down to cultural superiority.
Do you object to bill fighting - it’s defined as cultural acceptable by the EU - if I object to it am I racist?
Yes, it's good that there wasn't another exponential increase. Flattening the curve might mean a lot of days like this. Not sure if someone’s provided an update on cases/numbers but for anyone interested .....infections have increased by 2,493 (yesterday was 2546 I think) and deaths by 209 (yesterday 260)
Obviously not great but stable(ish), which I think is good as we can hope for over the next couple of weeks
All meat eating animal lovers are hypocrites to a degree but we can all want the best for our little furry friends even in death.but I'm not arguing that you objecting to bull fighting is racist, I'm not sure why you think I am.
I am against bull fighting and all animal cruelty, though as I've said before, as a meat eater, albeit one who is trying to cut his meat consumption, I am open to charges of hypocrisy.
There’s a far right social media campaign in the US against Anthony Fauci (one of Trumps top advisors on Coronavirus and a virus expert) because he’s the guy who has to keep correcting what Trump says.he did and I don't agree.

Yep, sadly more people will die but people do have to come to terms with the fact that flattening the curve does mean that the numbers suddenly drop offYes, it's good that there wasn't another exponential increase. Flattening the curve might mean a lot of days like this.
