calling him out on which part? I was making a conscious effort not to get sucked in, I honestly and genuinely did not take in all the details- what did he say
Call me out because a racist was caught out being a racist.

Tom, coventarian and the lurked are peas in a pod.

It's also brilliant how I am play him like a puppet.

All your doing is making yourself look a c**t to the whole forum and you don't like me as I highlight that.

Excellent article here, the gist of which is basically 'why can't we hold the government to account, just because we're in a crisis?'

A common response from Johnson fans to any criticism is that he's doing his best in difficult times, or now is not the time for criticism. Surely it's exactly the time?

Anyway I think it's a good article and would be keen to hear what the likes of Dom think of it

Mark Steel: At this point, we might as well use a lottery draw for updates on coronavirus figures
Wait for it...

what did he say that makes him a racist? Coventrian and The Lurker, clearly no need for any assistance there

I'm still trying to work out how dom can call this point scoring

Sent from my SM-G975F using Tapatalk

The first few lines describe him perfectly: "There seems to be an agreement that now is not the time to criticise. Because it’s alright to object to what someone in charge is doing, when it doesn’t matter. But when it’s vital, that’s when you should let people get on with whatever they fancy."

Any criticism is immediately dismissed as point scoring.

He much like Marty did had double standards for Asian and white politicians.

He did exactly what marty did 1 day earlier.

As I said I'm tried of arguing with cunts and racists so he is blocked

Wouldn't call it excellent. Good points raised. But more of a rant than anything.

Saw a graph earlier on which countries locked down when. We were the same time as Germany. They had cases before us. But they were also better prepared. Italy locked down well before anyone else.
Mark Steel is very whiny but as you say they are good points he’s making.

Such a horrible piece of work you are.

Not that I should have to explain myself to you or anyone on this forum, I thought it was interesting that a Labour politician made a dumb comment same day Boris made his handshake comment. Some agreed, some didn't, fine.

I then pointed out it would be weird if I hated London for being multicultural as my met my Turkish wife here, but again it seems you have to reveal things about your personal life to hold off the left wing hate mob.

You got completely backed into a corner, took the chickens way out and blocked me then checked in a couple of days later to lie.

As I've said before, 100% the biggest prick on the forum.

It was a unbalanced lazy rant of an article. People knocked Dom for lack of critical thinking, people should ask journalists/those in the media (left and right wing) to show the same.

Of course the government (and their medical advisors/PHE) should be held to account but do it in a constructive, balanced way. This was not

ps I was told as a kid, always check the author of articles as you’ll then know what type of underlying biases/slants they might have - Mark Steel (born 4 July 1960) is an English comedian, broadcaster, newspaper columnist and author.[1] A stand-up comedian known for his left-wing beliefs (he was a long-standing member of the Socialist Workers Party).

That doesn’t necessarily mean ignore it but also that I’m guessing he’s unlikely to ever say anything positive about the government

As always the country is completely divided. When you look at the last 5 years in the U.K. the biggest thing that has changed is that the country is split, divided, fractured and it will take a long time to fix that- people hate each other depending on whether they’re pro/anti brexit, whether they’re pro/anti “libertarian”- could go on but the whole country is broken. Possibly/ probably stems from the dark forces at work in the background as opposed to anything the politicians did themselves, but the entire ability to critically judge has gone out the window because the only question people care about is “what side is he on?”

To be fair the way he wrote the article I knew without even looking him up that he was likely to have a slant to his views (I’d never heard of him before)

The best writers/presenters are usually the ones where you’re not quite sure what their personal beliefs are (very difficult i appreciate)

Getting the full house here

Socialist. Tick
Lefty rag. Tick
Unbalanced. Tick
Poor man’s Will Self. Tick (although it pains me to admit that’s a fair point)

What I really want to know is which Newspaper tried to pass off a clap for the NHS photo as a clap for Boris photo.

Not sure anyone can say it’s unbalanced either without ignoring the point he makes about the Sun calling NHS staff angels having not that long ago called for junior doctors to be sacked for having the audacity to ask for a pay rise. You want to talk unbalanced look at the behaviour of the Sun newspaper.

Anyway Mark Steel's article was good and god knows what his politics have to do with anything.

It does seem you are not allowed to criticise the government when when they make mistakes.

twitter is similar- nobody seems capable of a balanced view and everyone has an agenda, I would argue that one of the biggest issues facing the U.K. for the next decade is not just the Coronavirus or Brexit, it’s that society is completely broken, nobody trusts anyone, the gap between ‘haves and have nots’ has never been bigger, everyone is angry at one another and there is open hatred all over the place. In a rare foray into politics I would guess that this heaps pressure on Starmer because the need for a coherent, viable opposition has never been greater.

Once again trying to point score, I think it’s pretty low in all honesty

Michael Gove said on TV the other day that it's right to question the government throughout the crisis.
It's not point scoring at all. Same as it's right to praise then if they get something right.
Every government in the world is being scrutinised by its citizens
Stop being silly Dom

You do realise he's a comedian who's columns are all a sarcastic piss take whatever the subject matter?
He's not a political journalist though he hits the spot more often than many of them.
