But it also gives a govt (or someone with dictatorial tendencies) to take that challenging of content and untruths and use it to crack down on dissidence rather than actual wrong information because it all depends on what the person in charge decides is wrong.
It does and that's why there needs to be balance.
That's why I would penalise organisations heavily for printing bullshit.
I know it's not really so much of a relevant medium any more but I've always said if a newspaper print a bullshit front page then they should be made to put the retraction and apology on the front page. Might make them think twice.
While there’s some truth to this, I mean it’s the weirdos that have the time and inclination to attends hundreds of meetings to get selected mostly, I don’t get this fetishisation of the business world. I see lots and lots and lots of fucking useless people in business in high up positions taking in large salaries that have no discernible talents.
Outrageous!!! So so naughtyRemember that PPE from Turkey that was going to be here Sunday but was then 'delayed'?
Coronavirus: UK only formally asked Turkey for PPE shipment help on Sunday - after telling Britons it was on its way
828 deaths think we will have upwards of 400 deaths a day for quite a while. Old guy at church gone into hospital with covid and a friends mum. First real link with me in all this .

As I mentioned yesterday though Pete the deaths happening on an actual day appear to be gradually decreasing and have been (at least in England) for a couple of weeks.
Appreciate its little comfort but whilst the headline daily numbers are jumping around actual deaths per day are trending down
What I still can’t quite work out is whether all of the backdated fatalities are still hospital only or include outside of hospital
ps I know all of this is kind of irrelevant (as every death is a tragedy) but I am just talking from the perspective of seeing if things are improving or not.
Do these include ones not included at the weekend If so maybe not as bad as it looks, tomorrows numbers will be interesting
I had a crazy email the other day where they were going to surprise them at work with pizza. I'm hoping it's now rather more structured than that!Dominos CEO announces plan to give millions of pounds worth of pizza to NHS workers

Misleading headline, it's worth is the cost not the price.
The NHSE stuff you shared is just the NHS hospital based deaths, they're all linked back to an NHS provider.
18k tests / 11,636 people
4301 positives
These are OK numbers infection wise I think, slowing down very gradually taking into account the additional tests. It is still high numbers though, nearly 2 weeks of 4k + cases. The death toll is going to be close to 1k a day for at least another fortnight if not longer.
If they sell pizza at a tenner a go they can say we're giving millions worth of pizza based on that price but if they only cost they a quid each to make its not actually costing them millions.Wouldn’t that then be equivalent to more pizza?
very strange that some are taking so long to be reported and then get added on in quite large chunks.
I don’t think the daily deaths should be that high, I’d hope that today was more of an anomaly due weekend catch up and a significant number of historical/backdated additions. Could be wrong though, just basing theory on the decreasing day rate on that NHS England spreadsheet
*again, not meaning to offend anyone with the unemotive language
For some things its understandable. Things like artists putting on thank you concerts, they are requiring NHS ID to be shown alongside the tickets to gain entry. Would be virtually impossible to extend that as what do you accept as valid ID?I am uncomfortable with this let's give the nhs staff this and that game of one upmanship companies are doing.
It completely ignores other key workers who are putting their lives at risk including care home workers, food retail and transportation staff.
Everywhere has Id these days. You could show a supermarket work id or a national express cov of so no I don't buy that argument. Most care home workers can't go to these concerts as they don't work for the nhs.For some things its understandable. Other things look like PR opportunities. Lots of companies with perishable stock lying around they can't use. How much advertising spend would Domino's need to make to achieve the equivalent impact of the free pizzas for NHS workers?
That's the point. Think about the stewards on the door having to check all these. Its going to slow things down anyway. Now imagine the chaos if you extend that to an essentially unlimited assortment of ID cards with the steward being the one who has to decide if that ID gives someone key worker status or not.Everywhere has Id these days. It's easy enough for example the Tom Clarke gig at the empire is 900 tickets tops. The bouncer can easily look and see oh nhs id, oh asda id etc. It's not unlimited. That's the point. And anyway not everywhere has ID. My company is classed as keyworker as we support medical staff. I don't have a work ID and have been furloughed while others in my company continue to work. How does someone checking tickets on the door deal with that?
Now scale that up for 20K at the O2. And add in that the person on the door has got to decide what ID is acceptable and what isn't. Would be absolute chaos. What happens when people start getting turned away? It's easy enough for example the Tom Clarke gig at the empire is 900 tickets tops. It's not carnage, it's checking ids. At the o2 there's going to be 100s of people searching people at the doors anyway. Now scale that up for 20K at the O2. No system is going to be perfect so at the end of the day making NHS ID the requirement for gigs for NHS staff seems a workable compromise.
Exactly, hundreds of different people all of whom will have different ideas of who is classed as a key worker and who isn't.At the o2 there's going to be 100s of people searching people at the doors anyway.
To be fair the fella from the lad bible asked the best question of his presserSo the Sun’s showbiz reporter was asking questions at today’s briefing.
