I’ve seen no evidence of mutation to a new strain that’s less dangerous for example.
I'll cheer you up by at least suggesting we haven't seen evidence of mutation to a new strain that's more dangerous yet, either.

Now there's a thought for a Thursday...

The reported COVID deaths 43k currently, are those with a positive test.

There are an addition 11k or so where COVID is mentioned on the death certificate.

It is absurd how you think this government, who has played down the seriousness of this to the extent that their have been thousands of unnecessary deaths, is somehow inflating the numbers!

Where are you getting your data on UHCW from? Pillar 1 testing data suggests six cases over the last couple of weeks, seems pretty inconceivable that none of those are in hospital.

Area name Area code Area type Specimen date Daily lab-confirmed cases
Coventry E08000026 Upper tier local authority 01/07/2020 0
Coventry E08000026 Upper tier local authority 30/06/2020 1
Coventry E08000026 Upper tier local authority 27/06/2020 1
Coventry E08000026 Upper tier local authority 23/06/2020 1
Coventry E08000026 Upper tier local authority 20/06/2020 2

Im getting it from an actual NHS occ therapist that works at UHCW everyday. Said person is now back on stroke department not Covid. Id say that is pretty reliable

He flew via Bulgaria and said Sofia was the origin of his journey. Clever hey?
tbf you can't choose your family (as Johnson's brother and sister would be keen to tell you!). As long as the Prime Minister robustly condemns this, there's no issue. I'm sure he will do just that...

Fair enough, assume the trust must be reporting internally about it

Ironically they used to have daily briefings, but this is now weekly, in regards to patient numbers etc. There is still a Covid ward set up at UHCW incase of any sort of spike in the area, so they are prepared, however the 4 or 5 wards that were re purposed are now back to normal. Good news i suppose

If it wasn't such a serious situation it would be laughable. Look at what he's resigned over.
He twice broke the rules, once by going mountain biking near his home in Dunedin, and again when he drove around 12 miles to the coast to take a walk with his family.

Announcing his resignation, he said continuing in the role was "distracting" from the government's fight against coronavirus, but he would remain in parliament as a backbencher.
Resigning so he doesn't cause a distraction.

Let's hope it stays that way

More could have Covid immunity than tests suggest

Covid-19 immunity could be twice as high as believed, Swedish study finds

No antibodies? You could still have had Covid by fighting it off with T-cells

Do Lockdowns Work? Mounting Evidence Says No | Ryan McMaken

Coronavirus is ‘weakening’ and virus will die out Italian expert says

Here are some links if anyone would like to read. Again, not saying this is all over etc, but as i say, there is more to this than gets reported. There is progress out there, and there are chances it could die out, a few experts saying its following SARS very closely.

But these kind of articles do help me, hopefullt could help others realise its not just horrendous news

But equally there were reports a few weeks ago saying immunity only lasts a few months.

The only stuff I’m seeing about it not being a big deal comes from politically motivates sources. I’d rather hear it from the medics TBH.

Do viruses mutate to be more dangerous? More infectious sure, but surely survival of the fittest would mean a less deadly virus would last longer as it’s not killing its hosts.

No of patients in hospital is down to 2189 which is the lowest it's been since lockdown. There were 17172 on 12th April. (England only)
211 patients on a ventilator, peak was 2881 on 12th April (England only)

This data wasn't easily accessed as the time but bloody hell those numbers are high.
