I’m in the Middle East. Temperatures in the mid - high twenties and rising. Nobody seems to think this will afford any level of protection. I’ve yet to hear one epidemiologist suggest that a nice heat wave will helpThat thing about it being sensitive to temperature has been written off as untrue. The Middle East shows you that.
Is it easier to travel around Europe or Russia?I was just thinking about the relative lack of reported cases in Russia....one for the conspiracy theorists?

Russia is more difficult of course but does share a land border with ChinaIs it easier to travel around Europe or Russia?
Well yeah, pointless making them without having sufficient doctors and nurses to administer them.I was just seeing how Hancock was calling for manufacturing companies to start making ventilators- I had no idea but 50% of the ventilators in acute units across the whole world are made in Ireland, right next door, surely it might be prudent to start ordering instead of getting companies to make ventilators who don’t ever make ventilators... but what do I know
Does anyone know why there are so many deaths in Italy?

More likely Extinction Rebellion lol .I was just thinking about the relative lack of reported cases in Russia....one for the conspiracy theorists?
We've just had a range of mass public events so let's see how we're looking in a week or two. I'm not positive about it at allLetter from mathematicians and scientists saying we’re on the same growth curve as Italy etc and need to act quicker. There’s a lot of different opinions and it seems to all come down to timing and reliability of data you’re putting into the models.

Well I’ve just had to take a days leave to follow government medical advice and finish my self isolation. They wouldn’t let me work from home despite the fact we’ve had entire meetings about how well have to work from home when it hits. Clearly the message isn’t getting out that this is serious and steps need to be taken now. Government giving the impression it’s business as usual and self isolation/home working is a nice thing to do if you can.
Do get the feeling a lot of businesses aren’t taking it seriously with doesn’t bode well for how they will handle the economic impact.
Just days ago people were still saying it’s all a fuss about nothing, no different to normal flu etc. Hopefully some of the serious measures mooted by the government over the weekend will start to focus minds.

Have you actually read that? That is just someone saying I'm right and you are wrong. There are far more evidence based cases against the UK plans than that. Here’s one for the herd immunity advocates

The ventilator thing is stupid. Could you imagine Churchill during the war asking nicely if anyone’s got any spitfires he can buy and if someone makes them he’ll buy them?
Also we’ve known this was coming for months, why are we only now asking? Right or wrong strategy the execution has been an absolute clusterfuck.

I have read it and I don't particularly want to argue. I put it up for info, a different view.
I am no medical expert but seems to me that the only sensible thing to do is make 100% sure your parents, grandparents, family members & friends- especially with underlying conditions- are safe & indoors (took ages to convince my dad to stay inside), and keep life going best you can while taking precautions.
And the govt need to align with the experts instead of contradicting them, present a united front and get a fucking grip on the media to stop telling everyone that the end is nigh- its not- do the right thing, be transparent, be smart and stop encouraging people to run around like headless chickens emptying the shops of everything.
I genuinely don’t believe the figures from ChinaThe government's plan is working well then.
It's almost as if doing absolutely nothing is a bad idea and does not lead to flattening/delaying the peak.

Very good point about the media. If I was the government I’d be on the phone to the editors to say by all means keep it factual and report the news but spreading mass hysteria when most sensible people are trying to stay calm, is totally irresponsible*. we don’t have state controlled media and I’d never want it but they have a responsibility in times of a crisis.
We’ll get through this, it might not be pretty at times but of course we will. The severity/fatality rates will also hopefully be proven to be far lower than they currently appear as it sounds like greater numbers have it without knowing.
*you’d still get the same nonsense on social media though unfortunately !
Or you could argue that their approach of having as many as possi
There was a very good post on twitter yesterday from someone whose wife has it, it explained pretty clearly what it is like- one of the things I found was that everyone was giving all this info but nobody was clearly giving examples of symptoms or how to deal with it if you contract it, will see if I can find it. But you are right, in general its a fucking free for all with everyone being told that the world is coming to an end, and they need to smarten up. I am not one for war analogies, but I'm pretty sure that when we were getting bombed the papers weren't telling the population they were doomed. They have a role to play, and unfortunately they are seeing it as a way to sensationalise & sell newspapers.
Problem is thanks to the terrible communication you’ve got two equally crap takes taking hold:
a) the end is nigh. Buy all the toilet roll. Boris is a murderer
b) I’m well ard and only pussies care about the virus. It’s just flu. No need to change anything.
