I'm not arguing against it at all, I'm just commenting on the rationaleI know I’ll get called a Tory for saying this (standard !) but some of the nonsense on here is getting crazy. Yes, we possibly should’ve stopped flights earlier in the outbreak (although the scientific advisors said their was no point) and people, not unreasonably, complained at the time. We temporarily stop the Spain air bridge and ask people to quarantine when they return and the same people still complain ?!
The same people who are worried about going back to the office because of the risk appear to be arguing against something to try to minimise the spread/risk ?!
Loads of conspiracy theories that don’t make any sense (if we wanted people to holiday here surely we wouldn’t have agreed the air bridges to start with ?!)
There’s been fuck ups by the government but why pick at every single decision being made, especially when they contradict other issues you might have ?!
Just try to keep some perspective in this shitstorm. Some decisions will be right, some wrong. We’re all in the same boat (apart from Trump who’s on another planet)
Ps I think Spain had 2.6k confirmed cases on Thursday and 2.2k Friday. We’re around 700-800 and we appear to doing more/targeted testing. Several EU countries are also considering closing their borders to Spain.
He sounds like he thinks he’s right too. PlonkerDon’t worry, Raab has been doing the rounds to clear up any confusion
And basically confirmed that it’s just a cynical stab at looking tough. They’ll be playing the “we made people quarantine” card for months if not years to come when being criticised for their response.
Well let's hope so!Scientists Uncover Evidence That a Level of Pre-Existing COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2 Immunity Is Present in the General Population
Singapore scientists uncover SARS-CoV-2-specific T cell immunity in recovered COVID-19 and SARS patients, and in uninfected individuals. Singapore study shows that SARS-CoV-2-specific T cells are present in all recovered COVID-19 patients. These T cells were also found in all subjects who rescitechdaily.com
Yeah fairly sure there has been anecdotal evidence beforeApparently a cat has tested positive.
Seven is good. If we can get down to those levels on a non Monday, all the better! Infections still moderately high, I guess?
Lowest Monday for a bit. Pretty sure that’s more deaths in one day than in Spain over the last week
Apparently a cat has tested positive.
In fairness it's been a dull year and people have to entertain themselves.Who is shagging their cat?
Came on to say the same thing.rolling average for cases is trending upward
What happened around the 2nd of July? case go from being consistently below 200 to consistently above 500 daily?
Lockdown eased on the 4th.
Sounds about right
Current CFR is 15% so based on that, assume 150 deaths per day is a number the gov are comfortable with.
That wouldn't create a surge in cases starting on the 2nd though?
Shows how political it is. It should be us saying no to UK as we are clear. UK playing political shit here and all to do with Brexit.UK changes travel advice for Spanish islands
The Foreign Office now advises against non-essential travel to the Balearic and Canary Islands.www.bbc.co.uk
Thousands? If Greece keep that up all summer they’ll have tested more Brits than the British GovernmentGoing to Greece in a few weeks' time, have filled in the form their government is asking everyone to do as a condition of entry. Apparently zero positive tests from Brits so far out of the thousands that have been carried out.

I've read some reports that you need to complete the form (PLF) when you come back as well, and the gov.uk website does seem to confirm that, have you seen anything about this? I'd have thought it would be more of a news story if the form did need completing for the return, and that's making me doubt it.Going to Greece in a few weeks' time, have filled in the form their government is asking everyone to do as a condition of entry. Had a dam good steak meal tonight, cooked to perfection. I don't normally eat in their as it's expensive and i even get a discount but my friends said just have what you want, when you had money you always looked after us so just accept it back and enjoy. Proper friends, most don't remember what you done for them 25 years ago.Wound up to shit over all this, WE ARE FUCKING CLEAR BORIS, anyway i had friends arrive last night to surprise me and it's been so good. Don't think they could have timed it better as with this latest news i think i would have had a breakdown but with my friends being here they have kept me more positive. I just hope the rules change in tourism favour out here as fast as they changed against us.
