You've got to approach it like a carrier is emitting a gas.

If one of the symptoms was persistent farting instead of coughing it'd be a lot easier then.

Would be amusing to have distancing rules based around 'he who smelt it, dealt it"

Chris Witty now as well!!!! Oh my

It's hardly the greatest surprise in the world, very contagious disease is caught by 3 people who spend time in close proximity every day.

Hope this isn't some crass "We've had it mildly and survived" demonstration to try and excuse their herd immunity drivel.

Jesus, looks like I called Italy too early :(

Worrying considering they’re out best indicator of where we’ll be.

thats pretty scary. Worst day so far.

Looking at the increase in confirmed cases and knowing the mortality rate (and the anticipated 20,000 total estimated deaths) the number of deaths will be rising (probably at a pace) for a while yet. It will be how quickly it starts to level off. Hopefully, this can be in a couple of weeks....fingers crossed

No that’s the government advice. Only households isolate. In the work place wash your hands and hope for the best.

Depends who you work for.

Our workplace has been deep cleaned and continues to be cleaned constantly. Hand gel stations all over the place. Hand gel as you come into the gate. Get to the first part of the building and barriers take you through sinks that have been fitted to wash your hands. Then hand gel again. Jobs that need 2 people to be close are not done anymore.

I know that this is the case but it is still pretty gutting to see that rise in the number of deaths.

Birmingham looks grim, 366 cases there now, the most in the country whereas the London boroughs seem to have steadied a little bit.

Based on today's numbers and using the crude percentages supplied suggest there may be 80k sufferer's of which 4k may be hospitalised and mortality is 1%

Hopefully a majority of the country now following the measures will help to slow the rate (but that will only be reflected in a few days at the earliest)

Today showed me reality has hit home.

Had to go into town. Not been in for days. But it was business as usual then. A very long queue for NatWest and queues for the other banks. Everyone remaining more distant than 2 metres.

But the standout was those sitting there needing your money. We don't have homeless here. You can still buy a house for less than 40k. Places for who would normally be the homeless keeps them off the street. There was 7 'beggars' today. You could see they were all needy. Never seen 1 before but suddenly 7. And don't think they were getting much as everyone was keeping their distance. Gave them £20 each. Hopefully not wasted on alcohol and drugs. Don't normally hand out money but get them food/drink. But you can't easily now. How many people will be desperate soon?

Everyone very friendly today although always friendly here. But reality has hit home. If only this could have happened a week ago or so.

Ah so finally you see we’re on the same curve!

Er no as we don’t actually know what a curve is - Italy has 1,000 deaths today which I doubt was in the curve - we will end up with circa 20,000 deaths if we manage it and that’s the best we can hope for.

You don’t know what a curve is? It’s shorthand for the line on a graph that describes the relationship between two variables.

IMF saying that we are now in recession and it will be longer and deeper than in 2009.

quite the good news day...

Looking for positives... if the police now have the power to break up groups, how about they start with Coldplay :)

Every country will be in recession

I didn’t say that. I said the Italy curve - how’s it looking today - more of a humpback bridge?
