Stop avoiding the question. How many of those you meet have editorial impact on the news output?
Its impossible for somewhere to have a right wing bias with the amount of left wingers in it that there are, at all levels.

I prefer none of them but forced to have a choice I reluctantly choose the Tories as do the majority of the country. At least the act like grown adults and not some pissed off 6th form debating group.
You think Rees-Mogg questioning the common sense of people who burned alive and Johnson saying any selection of whatever bollocks you want is acting like grown adults?

But Corbyn/McDonnell and some his/their policies might’ve been right for sections of the party but they weren’t for the country...that’s probably more of a fact

There’s probably no point getting into a political debate about choices as it’s irrelevant for another few years but the sooner labour picks someone (with the right policies) that offers something that’s attractive for the whole country (not just the party or sections of the party) the sooner we get a proper opposition which is better for everyone

ps the Tory manifesto/budget were pretty centre left, that’s the gaping hole labour left

Saying their policies weren't right is fine.
But the media didn't focus on a balanced and forensic assessment of policy did it?

If it had I wouldn't have a complaint and it was the same with Miliband and no doubt will be the same with Stamer.

A quick example, both parties announced broadband plans that according to experts were undeliverable.
One plan got massive scrutiny, one hardly got a mention. When you're giving the sitting government that much leeway you're on thin ice.
Look at the stunt Johnson's mate Orban has just pulled in Hungary. He's turned the country into a dictatorship. He used a compliant cherry picked media to do it.

Shame Nandy didn’t run for deputy (rather than leader). Thought she came across well when I saw/heard her

She fucked up in one of her first major interviews when she alienated a large chunk of Scotland which Labour already has a huge job on its hands to win back.

Apart from that she was definitely better than Long Bailey who seems like a decent person but it would be madness to elect someone considered a Corbynite.

UK aiming for 100,000 tests a day

Today Programme

BBC Radio 4

The UK is aiming to carry out 100,000 tests for coronavirus a day in "a small number of weeks," according to Prof Paul Cosford, emeritus medical director of Public Health England.

Currently there is capacity for 12,750 daily tests. As of 09:00 BST on Wednesday, 152,979 people in the UK had been tested.

Prof Cosford told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme: “Everybody involved is frustrated that we haven’t yet got to the position that we need to get to (on testing)."

Asked why other testing facilities in the country were not being used, Prof Cosford said Public Health England was looking at how it could use all the country's laboratories "to boost up at least 100,000 tests a day, hopefully more”.

He added that he would expect this work to be in place “over the coming days and a small number of weeks”.

Been saying this for weeks....

Plenty of policies were right and I agreed with them, as I did with many of the Tories policies (and would hope many on the left would say the same) But broadband infrastructure project is a bit different to free broadband for all, in addition with the implied intention to nationalise everything (uncosted).

anyway it’s done now, it’s up to labour to form a decent opposition and hold the government to account and then put forward a voteable proposition at the next election

It’s like Groundhog Day. I’m not even that fussed about mass testing for all at the moment, they just need to make sure the NHS workers (and if necessary their families) are tested asap

But I'm talking about the overall assessment of those policies in the media.
There was very little scrutiny of the Tory manifesto.
Even Johnson's inaugural speech as Tory leader where he promised the moon on a stick didn't have the media asking questions?
Mays unncosted manifesto from the previous election tbe same. Why do you think that is?
This is dangerous territory for anyone who cares about the country as a fully functioning democracy..

Like who, Andrew Neil chairman of the Spectator or Nick Robinson, former president of the Tory youth. No Tories in the media though!!

Edit: that should say BBC instead of media. Fucking loads I could name in the overall media!

Never going to work here, teeming with I’m alright jack selfish earn a bit of cash I’m middle class now wankers. Who fail to realise they are homeless after 3 months with no earnings like the rest of us.

Hopefully the only good thing to come out of everything that’s going on will be people realising they aren’t invincible and socialism within reason is the way forward. Probably gone too far there but I’ve had 3 bottles of red and I don’t give a fuck.

I don’t think it would be badly received if a scheme involved using insurance. The issue will be that if this government went down this route they will be accused of a two tier system.

She was my pick. Party isn’t ready for such a change IMO. And until it is will remain in opposition. Even I’m not left wing enough for a lot of members and I want to nationalise everything.

The Labour tradition of liberal graduates and small c conservative workers is what I believe in, but these days it’s Uber left Uber liberal purity or death.

And Corbyn didn't? Johnson's behaviour was pretty appalling during the Gen Election but lets not be hypocritical now.

You say this, and I’m tempted to agree but talking to my Dutch GF about how they had to crowdfund for mental health treatment for her brother makes me wonder.

As long as everything that’s currently covered is, at no extra per capita cost to either public or private purses, and it’s free at the point of need In not ideologically opposed. I just don’t see how it can be when you add in insurance and marketing overheads and profit. Always seems like a false economy to me.

Anyway we’re about to get the best ever fair test of every healthcare system in the world, will be interesting to compare once the dust settles.

His mums a nurse and his dad a toolmaker and he went to state school.

Also socialism is a working class ideology.

Well he went to a grammar school which labour changed to independent status. It’s now charging £7k a term and a notable alumni

It must have become private when he was there surely?

Ive always advocated it. I’ve never really seen how it’s fair better earners should totally receive free healthcare and now it’s at a level where the costs are unsustainable

The other thing with a totally free system is the waste by people who have no responsibility. I would imagine A and E wards have emptied and no people have actually died as a result and doctors consultants the same

Obviously there's a handful of legacy Tories, they'll die out. It's a left wing organisation overall and judging by the types of young people they employ I think it'll start leaning harder to the left in time. Obviously there's no way for me to prove that to you, we'll chat in a few years I guess...

But even if that's correct we've got the Sun, the Mail, the Times, the Telegraph to name a few. All supporters of the Tory party.

My experiences are all in broadcast media, not met many from the written media. That said, representing the left you have The Guardian, The Independent, The Mirror... so theres plenty coming at it from your viewpoint too.

Not sure what league it is in Rugby but one has been finished in current positions
News - Yorkshire Carnegie | Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds
“With 80% of the season complete for the community game, we believe our approach is fair and the right one for our leagues. We have clubs that are clear league leaders and worthy of promotion, but also other clubs who have said they would benefit from relegation, to play more meaningful rugby.”
