Where's the boosters on that graph?

What’s that got to do with anything? Boosters just top up existing immunity they don’t add immunity.
The only thing that will reduce hospitalisations reliably is percentage of the country vaccinated.

Surely topping up vaccinations to the most vulnerable will reduce hospitalisations? Waning immunity would surely be an issue?

I think experts agree that herd immunity can be achieved when somewhere between 80-90% of the population is double vaccinated. If anything the growing urgency around boosters is a measurement of failure not success. What’s that got to do with anything? Boosters just top up existing immunity they don’t add immunity.

Yeah but it won’t improve things. Just stop them getting worse. My issue is we got to about 60% and basically gave up trying to get people vaccinated. If ESB wants life without restrictions we need to push that number higher.
Everybody should want life without restrictions not just earlsdon mate

Anyway , cases dropping aren't they , 214 deaths a tad too high tbh , would be 78k deaths a year .. ideally (although the word ideally is not something we should say but is realistic ) we want to be aiming towards 30-40k a year ( if this is never going away , in the short term atleast
I haven't been railing against the vaccine , I said my daughter wasn't getting vaccinated.. I have had both jabs , my daughter also now has antibodies as she's had the virus , the vaccine wouldn't have made a jot of difference as she tested positive the day after she was due to have itDon’t think cases matter too much TBH, hospitalisations are what fucks the NHS and causes restrictions and ultimately leads to deaths.
Masks and social distancing and stuff are sticking plasters the only way back to normality is vaccination. Vaccination that people like you and ESB have been railing against IIRC.
Bring in vaccine mandates for various jobs and activities like other countries, get the kids vaxxed, get the messaging out there. Anything else is just farting around the edges.

I 100% still think we should not force anybody to have a vaccine they don't wish to have .
That won't change
Lockdown lover
Anyway , we know that a covid vaccine mandate isn't the way out , as there aren't too many countries with them in place and they all seem to be fairing better than us , maybe we just have a more gullible population
Long story short , you don't force people do do anything .. you won't be the one comforting the families of the unfortunate few thousand that have bad reactions or some that even die from reactions because they were forced to get a jab they didn't want (statistically this would happen )
That's why it's imperative we have a choice.
We have one of the lowest rates of vaccine scepticism in the world. Most countries have done it with vaccine passes in most places. The missus’ family in the Netherlands have to show a QR code for a vaccine or test result to go to work, McDonald’s, concerts, anything. It works. Most people aren’t mentalists they’re just lazy and need a kick up the bum.
They say 9 people have conclusively died from the vaccine in the UK
Whilst a further 1600 deaths shortly after vaccine weren't investigated enough to determine conclusive cause .
When somebody gets a vaccination they know the risk , as with anything there is always a risk , ofcourse the pros massively outweigh the cons and somebody like me was happy to take the risk , I agreed to it .
Some people aren't and that's fine , forcing them isn't the answer , nobody is disposible to reach a goal
That's where I'm at
So you aren't actually calling for mandatory vaccines then , like me you just wish more people would willingly have it .. fair enough
Apart from the hundreds dying to reach the goal of not asking people to be vaccinated to go to crowded places of course. Let’s not pretend your choice is morally neutral here.
People are acting within the law .. your problem is with the government
Yes. I’m a socialist. My problem is always with the govenrment. People will act rationally in the rules set for them, they’re never to blame. It’s why you won’t see me bleating about Amazons taxes either, it’s up to the govt to set the rules.

The problem is mate, even if every single person on the planet got the jab, covid would still not go away. So many people don´t understand that and eventually (I hope) the penny will drop and it´ll be clear that we have to manage it.
The thing with the QR code is that you can show a test (as you have said), so it gives an option to those who don´t want to get vaccinated. The QR codes are also really easy to fake and a lot of people are getting the ones that say they are recovered from the virus. That gives you a QR code that is valid for six months. Add onto that, about 80/90% of places are not actually checking anyway, and the whole thing is a bit of a farce. I do expect that to change somewhat though, as new restrictions come into place here on Saturday.
I call BS given you vote and champion a government hell bent on reducing workers rights on everything from cancelling the limit for working hours to changing the rules on holiday pay. If Amazon treats its employees appalling its because you vote for a government that facilitates them in doing so and it’s only going to get worse for Amazon employees if the Tories get their way. That’s before you even get into the workers rights already lost under 10 years of the Tories, such as them placing a 1 year limit of wages as compensation for unfair dismissal. What about Amazon’s appalling treatment of workers - I refuse to buy from them - you don’t give a fuck - well I never
Just a quick poll:
Have you or anybody you know tested positive for COVID after attending a football match this season?
I'm wondering as I've been to 7 games with decent crowds at all. I've yet to hear of anybody I know coming down with covid afterwards.
