I love this notion that the club should be ringing around to consult with customers and asking if they can put their prices up. It’s so quaint.

Because it would've given the club a semi-accurate steer of the furthest they can push a price increase.

No, they have had one season of cheap prices. The post COVID season was always going to be cheap, many clubs offered big discounts, and many companies had paid for a box the previous season that they hadn't used once. They had to take that into account.

Last season there should have been a rise, that was a mistake.

Do not understand this 'fuck em' attitude though. For me, the club builds for the long term by engaging with supporters and with local businesses, by carefully balancing pricing between affordability and raising revenues with an eye always on maximising attendances.

The short term, charge what you think you can get away with policy is risky, especially as the uplift in revenues really isn't that big. Things change quickly in football, we may well find ourselves back in the 3rd tier in a few years. Need to build bridges, not knock them down.
King wasn't here last seasons that isn't a mistake he has to live with. The price is the price. If we go down the price will be reduced and no doubt people who couldn't afford championship football in a box will come back.

No, it's good business. There are only 30 odd box holders and when a company I worked for had a box, Tynan was on the phone every 10 minutes. Imagine a business consulting with their customers ahead of a 200% price increase, how bonkers is that 😂

Well King will soon find out won't he! If they end up vacant it won't impact the atmosphere. Obviously would lose cash on it but it's his call.

But isn’t that what we’re talking about here? No one mentioned atmosphere. We’re talking about the potential of many boxes being vacant and the club losing out in the long term

It's a pretty obvious concept. If you're going to dramatically increase your prices consult your customers first that this is happening and what roughly it will be. If you get a severe pushback it's probably wise to reassess your price position.

The notion some are suggesting is idiotic. You don't dive in headfirst then deal with the consequences later. All that's doing is simply alienating your highest paying customers.

As I said before if they don't sell them out for the whole season they will do match day packages that will carry a premium too. I do think a decent number will still be sold I doubt the club will lose money. May not make more.

But the target audience isn't the same, so that calls more for further consultation given we have few corporate partners and the vast majority are SMEs.

No one is saying this. You're pushing this narrative because your point is idiotic. As stated I would've been 'happy' to have paid 40% above the previous price as would've most box holders that I've spoken to. But to increase it by 200% or whatever it is, is abhorrent and senseless.

You’d be surprised who uptakes these things - I worked with a law firm up north and they had boxes at Burnley, Preston and Blackburn. They’d have paid a premium for them boxes

you could look at someone like Ward and Rider who would likely take the club up being a local firm. There’s a number of professional firms that would pay the money. I’d imagine this is the target audience of King - not the mad hatters and their coked up mates

people are grumbling now because they have to pay Championship prices - we couldn’t keep on charging League two prices

They’re losing out by not maximising revenue from them too though. Time will tell if the chosen price point pays off.

Going round in circles on this. Similar to the season ticket stuff there will be loads of noise and when it settles the likelihood is it will be fine.

that is a shocking sweeping statement. many of the boxes were taken by local business who supported this club through thick and thin. the fact you think all these new businesses will come now and spend £25,000 is very naive.

Essentially it looks like we've set our prices roughly the same as their most exclusive box or to highlight how inept the club are, we've aligned them to a city which is the UK's 3rd richest in terms of GDP.

If I remember rightly, they back tracked with the original season ticket prices in the end didn’t they? will they do the same with corporate?

That’s around 10 out of 30+ boxes which still leaves over 20+ boxes.

That's not many in the scheme of things. Doug will be advertising them to corporate clients who will buy them for their businesses.

These boxes are solely aimed at businesses, hence the perks of advertisment on the windows etc.

Plus, he wouldn't need to sell them all to make significantly more than he did on charging £8k

I haven't seen anyone suggest that prices should be kept at current levels, there is universal acceptance they needed to rise. It's an eye-watering hike though, and it has been delivered late and with no consultation.

Of course, all the boxes sell out and you'll be free to say I told you so.

Why would they have 4/5? Jaguar don't associate themselves with the club from my knowledge. CBS will likely have some granted.

You're looking at 5/6 taken at most by the above.

Stadium sponsors and partners. They'll be in on it 100%.

It's also worth noting that they may only sell half for season tickets but they'll be advertising a decent product as a one off when Leeds, Leicester, Sunderland, Wednesday etc come to town.

Why would they be keen when they haven't been keen for a decade. Aston Martin is the same, as is Severn Trent.

Stadium sponsors and partners aren't going to take up a massive % of the boxes. At most it'll be 15-20% of the stadium total.
