Could be the death of us. (1 Viewer)

So we have drawn 11 times and lost just 3 all season thus far.
Are these draws going to be the death of us if we want to get promoted?

It's frustrating to think a coupleof those draws converted to winsand we would be clear at the top.

We all need to stay calm
The business end of the season is only just starting and we are going into it with virtually a full squad
Only Jobello from the players who would be in the match day 18 is out long term
Time will tell but it's not a bad position to be in

And several of our wins were achieved at the death in games which means we could easily be below half way

We need another striker I feel Leon Clarke type of player proven games like yesterday you bring someone like Clarke on instead of Biamou you win them games

We have won ten points from the last four league games that’s promotion form in any language, points will be dropped along the way, let’s see how we do the next four league games. The first three coming before the transfer deadline maybe if we wobble a bit more our owner will allow a little dabble in the transfer/loan market.

My concern is we don’t score or convert enough chances to sustain a top 6 finish. We do have a lot of play but with six midfielders you will expect to dominate but is that the negatives to playing the system robins plays? Possibly?

We looked knackered yesterday and we could of done without Tuesdays game so expect a few changes.

Doing well but could do better is my appraisal of the season so far.

Time will tell, but the annoying part are the amount of 'winning draws' (sorry club cricket phrase) we've had, and tossed it away.

Them being:
Bolton;
Oxford (last min equaliser, although I thought they were the better team);
MK x 2 (mainly time of their goal, we were not great yesterday);
Peterboro;
Sunderland.

The only 'losing draw' was Pompey... the rest were just even (or in the Accrington game evenly crap!).

I was about to quibble. But you are spot on! Nobody is hitting consistency at the moment...other than to say we are holding our own in a fairly even top half.

If MR is allowed to bring in another, I’d like a different type of attacker, so we can mix things up a bit, one with a bit of pace and more direct, used to be called wingers.

That would require a complete change to our current successful formation. On top of that, In a month or so, Jones could do that.

It’s not about him being allowed to bring in another player, we have no money. All depends on who we shift out. As it stands, that will no one with significant wage savings

What you're saying is that we should be top of the league. Given our overall circumstances, surely we are overachieving? Long may it continue-and I hope that we win the league, but can't have it that we ought to be doing better.

Just my opinion. This crop of players is significantly better than last season but we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot with last minute goals conceded. Yes I know we have scored some last gasp goals but if want to get out of this league we need to see out games especially as we score so few (Wycombe and tranmere apart)

how many games have we conceded in the last min or beyond, and how many have we scored ?, I ask as I;don’t know

Oxford: Scored 91st, conceded 94th (draw)
Blackpool: Scored 91st (win) +2
Wimbledon: Scored 93rd (win) +2
Peterborough: Conceded 95th (draw) -2
Sunderland: Conceded 90th (draw) -2
Shrewsbury: Conceded 91st (loss) -1

I suppose could include Bakayoko vs Donny in the 89th min too

But we're not.

That said, I do agree with the OP that a couple of those draws could come back to bite us on the back side at the end of the season.

Apart from the top 2 , and those who just sneak into the play offs or just stay up, there will be loads of other teams' supporters saying - if we had just held on, or scored that penalty against team x, y and z, we would have been.....In all honesty it happens most seasons at nearly every club. It's part of the reason we love/hate the game.

I can feel a top 6 finish and being beaten by Sunderland in the playoffs.

i think Sunderland and rotherham autos
Ipswich/Oxford/ Ourselves and Portsmouth in the playoffs

But anywhere in the Top 15 - the places could easily move around - and we have some tough games to come -
Not so long ago Ipswich/Wycombe/Peterboro had a massive lead , a few bad results can do a lot of damage, so if we dont win, I will take a draw
Doncaster is one of those games - must not lose

I think only Lincoln are currently at the level of settling for a mid table finish

could be the death of us?

we sit 4th in the table, in a league that is inconsistent and generally poor standard, we have started to find the back of the net more regularly. Not sure i share the concern when everyone else seems so inconsistent. Put together groups of wins like just recently add in the draws and we should be fine for the play offs for a minimum
