Didn't know you supported SISU FC: what division are they in again?
That's another if though with paying it up front. Can you see sisu doing that? Because I certainly couldn't see it happening.
Rumours be rumours. Still an interesting debate nonetheless.
"Short statement in response to speculation surrounding Tuesday night clash with Sheffield Utd
A short statement has been issued by Coventry City Football Club and Arena Coventry Limited following rumours surrounding the club's home fixture with Shefffield United on Tuesday, August 20.
The statement reads: “There are no issues concerning the go ahead of Coventry City’s match against Sheffield United, and the League One fixture will take place as planned at the Ricoh Arena.”"

ACL have, I believe issued a press release.
I am somewhere down the South Oxford Canal and it is difficult to keep an internet access. The game will do ahead, rumours to the contrary are just that. I can only assume that people presume that suppliers must be anxious about getting paid and want payment up front. From that it must have been speculated by someone that if ACL weren't paid they would not supply goods, such as Safety and Food etc. It would be particularly stupid for the Club not to pay as for the most part they have already collected the money from fans: all the boxes and what is left of the corporates.
Rumours will always surround the Club until it is run properly and as a business. Let us hope that the efforts of the current management are successful.
I'm not arguing that from a moral, unbiased view ACL shouldn't back downIt would be terrible, but there's always a solution, trust does count for a lot, but if everything is paid up front, trust can go out the window.
I just think ACL need to stand firm,
Who put us in this situation (league one) to start? Sisu?
Why should ACL pick up the tab for Sisu running us into the ground?
Why should ACL put up with what is pritty much Black mailing?
Sometimes you just need to take a stand and say NO!
The house analogy doesn't apply as we are the only available tenants.
I'm not arguing that from a moral, unbiased view ACL shouldn't back down
However as a fan of Coventry City any deal that can be struck to lower the rent and means we don't have to sell players to cover it, I am all for it and am not fussed about the morality of how it is done.
Football club tenants yes - Ricoh also has other PAYING tenants - Ricoh UK, Yorkshire Bank, DeVere Acadamy, Compass and G-Casnio.
I don't see them not paying their rent

I'd of chucked us out ages ago. Don't we only account for 13% (or a figure quite low) of the income ACL make, It's like if you rent out a house, I couldn't care less what happens in your life as long as I get my rent at the end of every month. If you can't pay, go and find somewhere else to live.
Just hope ACL don't cave in.
Oh dear, spoken like a true moron,
What "fan" would want Coventry not to exist !
Why would we be thrown out of the football league? That would never happen and you know it, the football league have gone out of their way to help pompey this past couple of seasons, we would receive the same treatment, we'd swap our games to play away until a replacement ground was found. The half empty St Andrews would be chuffed to bits to get a tenant. I agree that it's vital for the Ricoh to be owned/part owned by the club, but Sisu over this past couple of years have proved to us all they shouldn't have a say in the running of such a vital asset for the city.

I think he was humoring the post he was replying to, not being serious.
If CCFC leaves the Ricoh, the whole stadium is unviable and ACL is immediately in a loss-making situation. So they can't really kick us out without dooming the whole enterprise.
The Ricoh is unviable without regular usage ...... that may or may not include CCFC .......... got to think a lot wider than just a football club.
It isnt as if ACL have to make up a gap of 100% of their income ........... they have to make up 15% of it (approx)Not saying it would be easy for ACL to cover the shortfall but they are in a far better position financially than CCFC.
The importance of ccfc to the Ricoh, to sponsors, in fact to the city has dropped with their relegation to League 1 and wont recover until such time as the club becomes successful ......... and that is by no means guaranteed
I wonder what the terms of the Ricoh sponsorship deal are? As without the football club, the Ricoh name is given less exposure (I really don't think that can be disputed, even if we're now in League 1).
Not saying it isnt affected but these things are never clear cut. Would they pull out of the Ricoh with no CCFC there? ..... somehow I doubt it.

Oh dear....
Who put us in this situation was not SISU, the rot had started a long time before they come along, you need to put your petty hatred aside for SISU, and actually think about the club.

The sponsorship is for the complex not the club........... and there is a very good argument for saying that all the shenanigans going on at CCFC and its failure football wise tarnishes not enhances the Ricoh name. The longer we are in League 1 the less the "positive" effect CCFC can have on promoting the name of Ricoh
Yes the club causes the name to be said in the media ........ less so football wise with relegation to league 1....... but it isnt all good coverage is it.
Ricoh have clearly taken a business decision to sponsor the stadium not the football club........ there is more than football and some of the other markets are more specific to Ricoh (eg the business events). Alternative uses could also bring in additional exposure for Ricoh.
Without the football club is not going to mean no exposure .......... and on the balance at present it would probably mean more positive exposure.
There is a whole page on the Ricoh site devoted to its sponsorship of the arena ........ sum total of mention of the football team
" the Ricoh Arena opened for the first time on August 20, 2005 as Coventry City beat Queens Park Rangers 3-0"
Not sure Ricoh see it as a tie to the club they view it as a tie in with the venue. They dont even actually acknowledge it as our home stadium
