Just seen something on BBC about this but no where else? I think he would be a great inning for us down in league one!

Well it is goals we need and it's goals Heskey is known for!

In fact isn't his nickname Emile 'Goal Machine' Heskey?

Or on second thoughts it maybe could be 'Barn-door' Heskey.

Quite. If it was remotely true I would be outraged. Why on earth would we let Clive Platt walk and sign an ex England striker. Madness.

Corrected it for you.

And, don't wish to pee on your chips, but wasn't Tim Sherwood an ex England international?

Yeah the key word there is ex-England...he only had one good game in an England shirt and that was nearly 12 years ago in munich. I'm not even sure while i'm carrying this on because i'm sure this rumour is a complate load of bull but i cant get excited about another 35 year old just looking for his last payday (anyone remember tim sherwood?). signing him would take up most of our budget and after a couple of kicks up the arse from big lumping league 1 center halves he'd probably spend most of the time on the sidelines anyway. 24 goals in 174 games.......no thanks

It's not going to happen but he is more than good enough for league 1. Even predict he would score goals.

Embargo - moan
Can't sign players - moan
Embargo lifted - moan
Linked to players - moan
Thorn says he wants to do quick business - moan

There's a common theme here, isn't there? :thinking about:

Saw this on Twitter last night, it's a hoax mock up story that looks like the official BBC Sport website.

Don't be silly. He's rubbish - played for Leicester and Villa. Doesn't score goals EX England remember - we need far better than him - Let's resign The Tree.

I'd rather have Platt than Heskey.

For Heskey's wages we could get at least 3 or 4 more players in.

If we were to ignore age and money and that this rumour seems to be unicorn hoof territorty, on ability alone Heskey is to Platt as Marlon King is to me.

The grammatical and formatting errors undo the work of the artist, unfortunately.

Full stop on an article headline
midlands not capitalised
'34 year old' rather than 34-year-old
A quote taking up half the article with no mention of who said it at all

With a more accurate aping of BBC journalistic standards and a more realistic story, you could easily dupe a bucketload of eager fans for a while.
