I'm sure it's been covered before on here re new stadiums and acadamies etc., but I have now been there 4 times in the last week and there is absoulutely loads and loads of room, both for the airport itself and for several stadiums too. It's absolutely massive there and so much spare space. It's quite staggering how big it is.

Have the club ever looked there at all?

Having seen the place I would have thought it would have been frequently discussed as a number one identified location.

Its in Nimbyland Otis.
Warwick District Council would pretty much put a stop to it before plans had been drawn up.
The Airport never expanded due to WDC, and the Gateway project from Sir Peter Rigby was also rejected.
If one of the Midlands best Entrepreneurs cant get the Gateway completed there is no chance for Fisher and Co.

IF. And it's a big IF, anything is going to happen up there, it'll have dibs on it by JLR.

That'll surely be the JLR extension to Whitley. Doubling the size of Whitley with a purpose built bridge connecting the two sides of the A45.

Well... Baginton's not exactly idyllic countrified...

But would *you* want a bloody great business park, and your village connected to Coventry and being subsumed into it? Easy to say if not living there...

But city's by their nature expand and grow, if you live on the outer boundary 'chances are
You'll get swallowed up at some point,
I may not like the decision if I lived there but the Decision should be reached for the good
of the area in general and not to prevent a few people having their lifestyle interrupted.

And greenbelt is for the good of all, unless we want to turn into a country of nowt but concrete.

Not just in terms of wellbeing, but also in terms of tourism benefits too...

It was to build on the styrip separating Coventry from baginton, wasn't it?

Guess tbf, we could build between Meriden and Coventry and Birmingham, and merge Coventry into Birmingham. To be expected with them so close to each other, after all...

But nobody's talking about concreting over everything, it's a designated enterprise Zone
With associated government grants, to provide high quality jobs and massive economic
Investment to an area in desperate need of both.

I must have missed the bit where they said "if the gateway project is approved we will swiftly
Move on with the plan to urbanise the green belt between Coventry and Birmingham.

Got to expect it, being so close... and why stand in the way of progress? If you live in Coventry, got to expect being swallowed up by Birmingham.

1) It's too far from the City Centre
2) SISU are never going to build a stadium
3) You were one of the ones moaning about the Butts because it didn't have enough pedestrian crossings

Nope, I wasn't. I just said it was too small there, not enough space and there would be gridlock.

There is loads of scope by the airport to build new access roads. Stacks of it. At the Butts that was impossible.

Northern dont get me started greenbelt.
It's Ok for WDC to build on land adjasent to coventry so we lose ours but encroach theirs and it No No No.
Fucking hypocrites.

And my point is the airport is there anyway. A stadium there wouldn't impinge on anything there if it was placed at the Middlemarch Business Park end. That's nowhere near any houses at all and still 3 or 4 mins drive from Baginton.

So let's just live in a country as it was in 1950 despite increasing population?

Let's protect the house values of a few retirees so I can raise my kids in overcrowded housing?

How's about no. We are at something like 2% urban development in this country, we can afford to lose a bit more and build decent houses for people and jobs for them to go to. Earlsdon and Foleshill got subsumed into Coventry, that's how growth works.

Maybe if we didn't protect the green belt like we do we wouldn't end up with tiny idyllic villages and shit hole towns, maybe we could build towns people don't immediately want to move out of?

I'm an environmentalist, don't get me wrong, but the green belt is a sledgehammer to crack a nut IMO. You could do the same work with proper planning laws.

Merge Cov with Birmingham, CCFC can get a ground in Handsworth, and everyone's happy. End of thread.

Well CCC voted to become part of Birmingham, sorry WM, and not join up with Warwickshire.....
