Its interesting but when you look at the bigger picture SISU are to blame for the turmoil OUR club is in. They are now at the stage where they'll cost cut in ANYWAY however this will have a lasting affect on the players including 4 players who are influential to our promotion charge.
I have no problem whatsoever with the new contracts for new players that makes perfect sense to me - what I object to is the bullying of players on existing contracts - contracts which were put in place under SISU's ownership - it's completely unfair to the individual - if you can agree a new contract with them then fine do it in a constructive way - if not accept that you are bound by the original contract and work with it - same applies to the rent argument
what I object to is the bullying of players on existing contracts
Welcome to the real world. It happens all the time in all forms of industry. People have to "volunteer" a wage reduction and if they don't they know what's coming next. Others have pensions slashed with no choice at all. Now poor old Carl won't get £500 for trotting on with a minute to go - unless the team achieves success. They are quite right to re-negotiate and where is the bullying - they were given a choice except the terms or join another club - and if they were good enough they would be off like a shot but they know where the bread is buttered even after this.
They mustn't be breaking any laws though else surely they wouldn't have accepted without speaking to the PFA etc?

There isn't anything illegal about what the club is doing - it has discussed the proposal with the players and therefore fulfilled its obligations.
It also depends on whether the club have a clause in the contract that states the payment / level of bonus is discretionary, if they do, there is absolutely nothing wrong with what they're doing.
Yes probably is but i would imagine this is another cost cutting exercise by the powers that be.
.....nowhere has it been stated that the players have been bullied out of exisitng contracts...
....besides...it the harsh reality of life.....something most footy players are shielded from....
....so take a pay cut or your employer goes under...then they'll be earning nothing....
...Well done SISU.
Wasn't there a mention that players who didn't sign amended contracts wouldn't be played?
Spot on. The anti SISU rhetoric on here clouds judgement.
For the record I'm not particularly pro or anti SISU to be honest - I'm just against this whole approach by SISU - rent contract - players contracts - where will it end? Are they just going to refuse to pay the contracted price on anything and everything? Who will want to deal with us going forward on this basis? what chance have we as a club of ever owning part or all of the ground which is what we really need to turn it all around. Nobody is going to trust the club on this basis if fundamental agreements cannot be honoured
We've never been in this position before and I fear it damages our credibility tremendously

Let's just go into Admin then, eh?
I have no issue with what Sisu are trying to bring in, A system where bonuses are handing out for simply playing and with no relation to performance would seem bizzare in any profession other than football and banking. I think that the new system might actually work and force players who want that extra bit of money to step up, at no point can I read or find that they are having there wages cut and Fisher actually says that the amount available for bonuses is greater than last years, so why would a player get offended or have his morale affected by having more money available if he plays well?
The one thing I dont like is Fishers response:
*2: Is it true that any player who does not agree to the new terms will not be permitted to play for City and will be made available for transfer?
I am not quite sure that this was the exact presentation! However, to be crystal clear then, we will be extremely careful to only field those players who are motivated to wear the shirt of Coventry City and equally are motivated by success.
That screams of take the cut or you will be shipped out....
I see the usual sisu cheerleaders are out trying to start petty squabling again. I dont agree with players bonus's but as usual with sisu the timing of this is pathetic with the season starting today. Once again ccfc are in the news for the wrong things. It shows them up for what they are-an amateurish two bob hedge fund.
I fully support acl's stance. You allow yourself to bullied once, you'll get walked over for the rest of your life.

The only way this is going to get turned around is if everyone works together - mutual respect, trust and understanding of what everyone needs to achieve and formulating plans to achieve this - instead we have everyone at one another's throats
What we actually have now is:
Pissed off Club Owners
Pissed off Stadium Owners
Pissed off Players
Pissed off Fans
This is not going to get us anywhere

Well the players need to grow up and understand the big bad world they live in and that they are the players who took us to the worst league position in half a century. If they perform they get bonuses. If they perform fans get happy, attendances improve and even the owners may then see some cause for optimism.
