I think 90% of pre match posters need to come on here and apologise. Robins out, Wilson dropped (forever), Bidwell who?, etc etc. I’ve never felt so happy since reading a book with them bad reviews but knowing the happy ending. I look forward to the Sheffield Wednesday thread 😉.
Anyone pissing the bed after 7 league games needs perspective. If we win at the weekend, all of a sudden the start isn’t doomsday scenario we all imagined.

Enjoyed tonight, it was great to have a commanding performance and a clean sheet.

Chuffed to bits with that performance. I think the primary difference was attitude. The tackles were going in right from the off, and we were looking to shift the ball forward much more quickly.

In fairness to Robins, I think this is exactly what he said he wanted in the Leeds post-game interview, and it looks like the players have taken it on board.

Anyway, an excellent result against a pretty good team, I just hope we can keep it up and get a run going. Happy. 🙂

We were so jittery in the first half, even after the first goal. The longer the game went on the more we grew into it, and by the end we looked great. Just goes to show how important building confidence is, and sometimes you just need a scrappy half of football and a goal.

I posted before the game i seen a disconnect and in my opinion it was a communication issue with players, Robins and the coaches. On Saturday Robins eluded to talks after the game which involved everyone having a say in a calm manner.

That may be why we seen a change in performance, may be players have aired an issue and its lightened the atmosphere around the group. May be its them asking for instructions to be not so scattered and keep it clear and precise. May be its having the instructions by coaches all being off the same hymn sheet. Or training sessions either not intense enough or too intense. Either way something created this performance and im glad it came.

Other than that its just the football gods helping us out and Robins picking right players and playing them in the natural positions.

The performance last night makes criticism of effort levels in the previous 7 games all the more valid.

We knew they were not playing to their full potential

Job done, 3 points all that mattered. We looked less fragile in 2nd half, hopefully confidence grew.
- good to see us go longer more and just reset, rather than dally on ball and kill ourselves.
- BTA triggered press so much better, helps entire team
- sheaf is sheaf
- kitching was poor and is poor for me.
- Eccles outstanding
- wright, need that version more than not.
- EMC needs time still.

got to go back to back on Saturday now.

Most importantly those players showed some fight and turned up - Robins deserved that.

The fight was the most important thing for me - no fight last night would have been very significant but showed they are together and playing for robins

I didn't think Blackburn were as dreadful as some have said on here. Someone after the game said that they were like us at Leeds, but at times yesterday, it was just their final ball/ lack of a ball bouncing the right way for them. that prevented them from scoring. They looked far more creative than we did at Leeds. Probably lacking a proper centre forward. That said, we were a country mile better than we played last weekend. Roll on next Saturday, and let's hope Bristol City have their clogging boots on tonight!

Brilliant last night. Even before the game I noticed and wonder if anyone else did the different training warm up and it was noticeable the team were warming up at a higher intensity and lots more high fives almost making a point of togetherness.

deserved a 3-0 win. Blackburn manager agrees they were second best all night which they were. Well done city. Win Saturday and football is as fickle as it always is.

On this note, I saw the coaches talking throughout the match with Mark and each other.

Saw them huddle at one point when we looked to bring sheaf off. Hopefully not just the players starting to gel. Happy to see Robins stop the 60 minute subs as well and make subs when needed.

Fine margins … 2 deflected goals / a keeper error.

A much better performance but goals breed confidence.

There was a definite pragmatism in our play. We still managed to cock things up in our own half on a regular basis but when we needed to we just put laces through it. I don’t mind it one bit. The biggest myth in the game at the minute is this playing out from the back rubbish. Huge amounts of goals are conceded via this each week and it gives me the screaming shits.
I agree completely and with a player like BTA upfront at least we have someone who is going to run his socks off to try and make something out of a long clearance.

Just had a quick read of their forum, as I couldn’t believe how bad they were last night so wanted to get their fans general consensus.

Most of their fans fair with their thoughts and their team’s awful performance, however this one tickled me though. Do you think they’ve been to Blackburn before?

Sheaf stays fit and we finish top 8 with ease, if he is out, we don't, he tackles, the other midfielders don't know how to do it, he positions himself to offer for a defender to find him, he is just a class act, protect at all costs and find someone similar if we can just in case he breaks down again.
Not knocking the others, I think Eccles has come one incredibly and they all offer something but they are nowhere near his class.

They’re all saying how brilliant their away following was? Brilliant for the 1 bus driver that got to drive them I guess
I noticed that, even Eustace in his press after the game complementing them on the 900,000 fans they brought, quickly corrected to 900. Very bizzare 😂

Last night was just what we needed. The first half was a little chaotic with some big mistakes in defence but having been critical of the coaching setup after the Leeds game I have to give them credit, whatever they said and did after half-time clearly worked as we looked a lot more cohesive, coherent and solid in the second half and once we were 2-0 up we didn't once look like giving anything up.

After seeing all the arguments on the pitch during the Swansea and Leeds games, a nice moment was MVE and Wright laughing it off when MVE bombed up the pitch just for Wright to overplay the pass. I was thrilled that BTA got a goal, he ran his socks off all game and caused constant problems for Blackburn.

I was as confused as anyone else that Wilson started instead of Dovin, but he was very assured and confident. His sweeper keeper moment near the end of the first half was fantastic.

Hopefully we carry this straight on this Saturday.

The best thing is that it was a real team performance.
Hard work, pressing, tackling back and a hint of aggression throughout the team.
Maybe we now lack a few high quality players. This is how you make up for it.

Felt so relaxed going home and this morning , feels great .

Part of the reason is the manner of the performance , I still think people would have felt a bit iffy about things had we played poorly and scraped a win .. but the team went out and gave 100% and really did a good job , which has made people feel alot better

We look a bit more physical with Kitching in the team.
Should be our first choice CB for me.
Yes his passing was wayward first half, but he organised the backline, got retribution on Dolan after he stamped on Saka and was brilliant 2nd half. Thomas looks far better playing with Kitching too.
We've always bemoaned the lack of bite and nastiness in our sides over the years, and Kitching brings that. No wonder Robins chased him all of last summer.

Kitching poor? He made 2 bad passes in the 1st half admittedly, but defended well aside from that including clearing off the line, and was the best defender 2nd half

It's down to Kitching to stop terrible lapses that can cost you games. Do that and he could well be a regular.

He did well to be honest outside of the passing (that was everyone in the back line bar Bidwell tho).

You’re right when you say his nastiness gives us a bite. Would be happy to see him start. Now’s really the time for him to shine without other leaders in the squad after all he was Barnsley’s Captain.

No even he had a moment although it was underhit pass into the defence with a mad scramble to get it away,in fact was it the GK who got there or is that my imagination
