11 points off the top 6, 6 above the bottom 3 yet talk of still trying to make the playoffs is reasonable whereas clearly relegation is off the table.

Astonishing arrogance on here sometimes
I don’t mind saying it: we’re too good to get relegated, the same team came 9th last season. We've got two key players to come back that will make us 2-3 levels better than where we’re at atm.

Equally, we’re probably 2-3 players short of competing for the playoffs. 11 points off playoffs isn’t as unsurmountable as being made out by some on here.

In fairness to your point, we can’t be complacent otherwise we will get dragged right into it.

On the fitness front. If EMC is due to be training this week, will he be available? I assume Tats has recovered from Cardiff.

Wont see EMC until the end of Feb. Lampard said he's only 2 weeks into a 6 week lay off. Doubt we'll see Wright for at least another 2 or 3 games either.

Yeah and me. Just wondering if Lampard liked how we did with the first formation on Saturday. He mentioned it has given him some flexability in our formations now.
2nd team for me but would move Allen into the torp role. Feel he did a lot of the gritty work I’d want in DM. Might even be cheeky to start Rudoni in CAM and put BTA on the left wing

I'd like to get Rudoni in CAM too, but I wouldn't entertain BTA in the LW slot again. Offers next to nothing there.
Yeah I get that but I think then the only other option is Dasilva on the left wing, feel Rudoni does his best work as a ten and was massively benefited by Allens quick collections and passes against Wednesday

Are you remotely suggesting that the great players of the 60s & 70s wouldn't have been great players of the current no physical contact era ??
I sometimes look at the billiard table pitches they play on today, and think what the great dribbling players would have made of it.
Could just see Hutch and Bestie with the ball at their feet, they could keep it all day if they wanted.
We also had players who could use two feet.

I think there's a good chance we'll see wing backs again on Saturday

I agree and I'm all for it
Don't think we'll revert back until Wright is fit. If it goes well in the meantime maybe he'll look at keeping it?

Just looked and see Bristol play a 3-4-3 formation.

As such, might be worth sticking to the 5-3-2. Will mean we can mark their five attacking players while allowing the three man midfield to out number their two.

In attack as well we would have overall numbers in the middle of the park with the two CBs pushing higher up the pitch. Issue could be quick breaks on the flanks but a high line may mean we can trap a few for offside

Two strikers against three should help so on this basis as think Simms would struggle against the three on his own

Dovin

MVE - Thomas - Binks - Kitching - Dasilva

Torp - Allen - Rudoni

Simms - Bassette

This but would rather Bidwell over Dasilva
