Cardiff are a very poor team.
Really have to win this but very disjointed performance.

Going to take several weeks to get the team playing how he wants but there were some signs already that we might do certain things differently

We aren't far away from smashing them. Midfield need to show for it more to allow us to beat their press centrally as well as wide.

Think we will win it second half still betting on 3-1. Eccles quietest performance, we lack a proper progressive ball carried in midfield when playing a flat 3.

Some interesting lack of cards by the ref. Roberts 3 fouls and 3 times shouted at the ref and the handball

Think Simms need to come on. He's much better at headers than Bassette and should be able to get a goal here. Would do a world of good for his confidence.

Eccles looks like he's unsure where he should be going, meanwhile Rudoni is constantly moving out wide, creating overlaps and running forward.

Pretty underwhelming half really, not that you’d have expected that much to chance in 2 days. Still far too slow on the ball and shaky at the back. Both centre backs been poor, Eccles has been awful and Bassette is having a nightmare. Rudoni started well but got worse as the half went on. Sakamoto has been our best player and Mason-Clarke is doing alright but still hasn’t beaten his man all half.

All over the place defensively. Really pleased for Mason-Clark. Bassette should have scored two headers. Needs to work on his timing.
I think Rudoni has been excellent. DaSilva and Sheaf okay. Van Erwijk and Thomas look very unsure.

Yeah I think it's clear the way FL wants us to play but also clear he's only had 2 days with the team as the midfield lacks fluidity.

Certainly not seeing a new dawn / anything amazingly different which is what I and sensible posters expected. Early days!

Feel like Simms would have scored that second Bassette header, but maybe Frank has seen something in Bassette he prefers?

Left side of the defence has been questionable. MVE poor going forwards, but okay defensively.

Midfield largely been good, Rudoni decent. Sakamotos assist was good and EMC looks like he’ll score a few now.

Cardiff look pretty shite, other than Oxford and Derby (I know we lost that game) they look like the third worst team I’ve seen so far. And even so, they could have scored another quite easily…

Nothing we didn't know before. This defence is beyond redemption without personnel changes. Collins , Binks & JDS need binning off. Kitching & Bidwell back in for now.
Would like to see Simms given a run with EMC & Saka out wide. Still question the defensive cover of Sheaf & Eccles. They leave massive gaps at times

I can see what we are trying to do, just we aren't doing it well

Bit of a Meh! Half so far.

Some nice passages of play, great ball for the goal and the second header which Bassette should be scoring, but other than that lots of huff and puff and dont look particularly threatening.

Defensively we look vulnerable, Cardiff have had a couple of good chance, a good save by Colline and one just wide. We Binks and Thomas are constantly fouling their number 19, but the ref has been ignoring it thankfully.

Refs been ok, but a little pedantic. Only poor decisions were the two injuries.

A good save? It was a fucking woeful save. And he should have saved the goal as well.

We badly, badly need to sort our defence in the January window. I know there's talk about signing a midfielder, but for me, I'm tempted to say it's the bigger priority.

We can't keep going into every game having to come from behind.
