If it's a drink in a jam jar I don't mind that too much, if it's a dessert though it'd be too annoying to get at with a spoon
Not to mention the noise of spoon on jar as you get the last few spoonfuls out. Imagine a restaurant full of that.

Went up by the CWR building at Priory Place the other day, first time in a while. Had become a bit desolate and quiet around there, so it was really nice to see nearly all the units open again once more.

Now has PGR (pizza restaurant), Han Dynasty (Chinese) and now also a Japanese restaurant and then also a Korean restaurant. The Korean restaurant seemed particularly vibrant and a bit busy. This was at around 6pm on Friday. Anyone been? Fancy trying it myself, as I have have never had Korean food before.

Also worth noting that Twisted Barrel are moving into much bigger premises at Fargo Village soon, so it must be proving popular.

And on talking about novelty and quirky, a new cafe is opening in Corporation Street, called Jam Jar, where desserts are served out of .....well yep, jam jars.
Korean place is nice. Went last year. Priory Place is inside out. It's a travesty how soft the council were with Sainsbury's, considering the way they blithely CPO the Hippodrome and Smithfield pub.

Yeah, two now. The Japanese is next door to Han Dynasty and the Korean place is across the way at the top of the steps by Sainsbury's. Sainsbury's definitely should have gone. Not only does it block what's behind it, it is also very ugly concrete monstrosity of a building.

Went to PGR one time, it was nice enough but Trish Adudu from the radio was in there on I assume her birthday do and she's got the loudest voice I've ever heard.

Tend to agree with you about Sainsburys, but remember hearing at the time the council offered Sainsburys several different sites around the city centre which they turned down. When the council mentioned compulsory purchase Sainsburys made it clear they would fight it all the way through the courts and drag it out as long as they could. Realising that Sainsburys had deeper pockets than the rate payers of Coventry the council decided not to persue the option.

Shin Ramen is the Japanese place. It's fantastic.

Fray Bentos is originally from Uruguay. The company is named after a city there. The pies are now made in Scotland.

Went to town the other day, more than usual homeless people. Woman sat by Topshop had a quick look about and then pulled out her iPhone.

Another bloke by the skydome looked to be off his head and passed out in the middle of the pavement.

Random bloke just walked up to us and asked for money straight off as well.

Not sure if they were just there because there was an event on so more footfall for people to give them cash.

Yeah it seemed worse when I went in the other weekend. Might be, of course, that now I'm older I notice them more(!) but one thing you could say about the city centre was the alcohol exclusion zone etc. meant there weren't many beggars visible (could always argue that's worse however!).

Did seem worse however. Nobody threatening, but did use another pay point for the car park, too!

This was right in the town centre, usually they are down by Sainsburys or the Swimming baths

It was by topshop, the fountain, the old derelict shop by the fountain (BHS I think) usually has a few in the doorway and the bloke asked us for cash by JD sports.

Not really great when you take an 8 year old to town and she sees us asked for money by a stranger and a bloke off his head in the pavement on what looked to be Spice or something (it deffo wasn't beer) at lunchtime.

Do occasionally get asked for money, but that is usually people who park themselves right next to a car park pay station, where they obviously know you have money.

Have now developed a built in 'Only have enough cash for car park, sorry' patter.

Yeah it's happened more to me recently. Not entirely sure if it's because there are more about, or they aren't trying to police the city centre as much as they did.

tbf it happens in other cities too.
