how? They played a team that has conceded 92 goals this season and could very likely ship 100 by the end of the end of the season, all this while actually be 6thin the PL
we played a team who re 1 place above us in the league
You can't compared the 2 games
if we'd played Rotherham then you may have a point
That’s a cop out. We were crying out for leadership tonight and he offered none. I don’t believe he is told “don’t try to pass forward or shoot, make sure you pass to a teammate who is under pressure”He’s carrying out his instructions, never been an expansive player
We were playing really well when Sheaf was conducting things in midfield but he needed to go off before he injured himself.I don't think it had anything to do with substitutions. The best football we played was in the second half and came to an abrupt ending as soon as the winner went in. Despite some bizarre goal gifting, we were still well in it until The Barnsley Boys decided to give Hull an extra goal to win the game. I would even go as far as to say if it wasn't for that we had a good chance to go on and win ourselves. The momentum was with us and they were resulting to shithousing due to being under pressure. As soon as that goal went in our heads dropped, and it looked like all we wanted was the referee to blow the final whistle and put an end to the season.
And this is why I think we need a bigger squad. Part of the problem is that players get physically and emotionally fatigued and they need more time to recover than the schedule gives them. Even Peter Schmeichel once got sent of on holiday for a few weeks by Fergie because his performances dropped. Came back and was at the top of his game again. Not only that it gives the body time to recover and reduce the number of injuries over the season and gives you more options later in the season.I think lots of players hit a wall five or six games ago. I said this a while ago about how we’ve a lot of players who aren’t used to that many games. Even Godden, who has hardly played, I think has played more than last season. Wright MvE and Saka used to fewer games at a lower tempo abroad, Torp coming off the back of a season, etc etc. Simms and Thomas being proper first teamers at their club for the first time. Palmer actually playing. All adds up.
They played a far easier game than we did, they also have no players and had to bring people on for their debuts. If we played Rotherham tonight we'd have started the same team Is my point .
United players still have to go out there and put the miles in , or are we suggesting it was a kick about in a more demanding league
I’d imagine he was pretty cheap compared to Kitching though. All 3 I am sure will be stronger next season. Collins however really has to sort himself out
Robins has come out tonight and said it was difficult for him to field a team. That's how I read the team sheet.
Start Haji and Simms and there's no impact from the bench when they flag after 45.
I'm not sure any premier league game is easier than playing 7th placed championship Hull. They played a far easier game than we did, they also have no players and had to bring people on for their debuts.
You can't compare the difficulties of the 2 games, but if you want to then crack on.
They will I'm sure.So surely they will still be tired at blackburn then
Disappointing performance, gifted them two goals, the penalty was all down to the ref, outside the box for me

it is when you are the 6th best team in that leagueI'm not sure any premier league game is easier than playing 7th placed championship Hull.
They are all harder games than playing championship opposition
FantasticThey will I'm sure.
The standard is higher and the intensity is higher , the game is more demanding in the Premier league full stopit is when you are the 6th best team in that league
it would be harder for us yes but not a team that is much higher in thesame league as them
Been a long season with a small squad and we were hit by injuries too.Fantastic
Nonsense mate, sorry….So a full day's extra rest after a game they played 33% less minutes. Of course it's a valid reason!
Robins said tonight that O'Hare ran 17k on Sunday. Normally I guess he'd be around 10k. That's a huge difference.
The players were dead on their feet on Sunday, some couldn't even make it for tonight and those that did looked very tired by the end.
I can't believe anyone can say just because they're professional footballers they should have been able to play like normal this evening.
Been a long season with a small squad and we were hit by injuries too.
To be expected.
I don't think we can criticise the players too much at all tonight. If Robins says it was difficult for him to field a team, I believe him.
I don't believe it's been bad tactics.Sure , but we've been shit for weeks .. it's not all down to tiredness, it's a cop out for bad tactics and bad performances
New to this football malarkey are you?Nonsense mate, sorry….
if you can’t run around for 90-120 minutes twice a week you don’t deserve to be paid to do it
We were playing really well when Sheaf was conducting things in midfield but he needed to go off before he injured himself.
We ended the game with Palmer, Allen and Kelly in midfield none of which are starting calibre players for a playoff contending team.
Incremental progress, building the team bit by bit.
but they are a much better team even in their current state than sheffield unitedThe standard is higher and the intensity is higher , the game is more demanding in the Premier league full stop
And their players that played at Wembley went out tonight and played again
There's no argument here surely ?
We've lost 6 of the last 10 league gamesI don't believe it's been bad tactics.
We were excellent against Wolves, excellent in the second half against Man U, great against Leeds. 8'm not having this we've been shit for weeks. That makes it sound like there have been no good performances and there have.
It's consistency we have lacked.
Nonsense mate, sorry….
if you can’t run around for 90-120 minutes twice a week you don’t deserve to be paid to do it
Exactly this.We ended the game with Palmer, Allen and Kelly in midfield none of which are starting calibre players for a playoff contending team.
Us playing well in the second half was almost entirely down to Wright and Simms. If it wasn't for them the score line would have probably been worse. Sheaf was understandably not that great tonight, but let's not pretend he was the one conducting things, because he struggled for a lot of the game. The concept we lost because he went off is nonsense. Allen and Kelly were fine, but Palmer I will agree was pretty hopeless other than the freekick.
It’s an accumulation of the season. We haven’t had depth and it’s caught up with us.The standard is higher and the intensity is higher , the game is more demanding in the Premier league full stop
And their players that played at Wembley went out tonight and played again
There's no argument here surely ?
Exactly this.
Our ambition has now outgrown Kelly and Allen.
If Kelly is still about next year, it means something has gone wrong in the summer, and Allen is a level below where we want to be.
Kelly didn't do well tonight - he did "ok".... but no where near what we need to have stating if.we want to trouble the top end of the Championship.
I'm sure they can. Problem is that there's other people playing against them.Nonsense mate, sorry….
if you can’t run around for 90-120 minutes twice a week you don’t deserve to be paid to do it
Difference in ability has nothing to do with the level of intensity in a game of football in the Premier league compared to the championship .. the league is head and shoulders above the one we are in , and their players went out and put that intensity in tonight to win 4-2but they are a much better team even in their current state than sheffield united
there is not the same difference in ability between us and hull
okay, if you want to believe otherwise then so be it
I'm sure they can. Problem is that there's other people playing against them.
You ask a marathon runner to run a marathon the day after they've run one and they'll be able to do it, but I bet they'll do it slower. And if they're against someone of a similar level who hadn't run the day before they'll lose.
shouldn’t even be that, he’s sub standardHe’s not a starter though. He’s fifth or sixth choice CM
lol I actually laughed at some point cause he was running in treacle and fair play to him was trying to kick their players heels just to stop himRegardless of his on the ball limitations for large chunks of the game Kelly was the only one putting tackles in
shouldn’t even be that, he’s sub standard
lol I actually laughed at some point cause he was running in treacle and fair play to him was trying to kick their players heels just to stop him
reminded me of the managers son who used to play for Whitley colts, just anything to stop the player and it wasn’t going to be clean
