Coventry City must match Tony Mowbray's ambitions if they want to keep him (1 Viewer)

Well it wasn't what the club owners wanted that is for sure.
Stay away Fan power that is the main reason,
2000 superfans was not enough

Personally I think it was down to the fans and certain parties not wanting to look so bad.

Rumour, true or not I can't help thinking it's mischievous at best from the CT. Lets face it, the thought of TM leaving at this stage would be so disappointing to the fans but moreover very disruptive and worrying for the players he has built around this current campaign wouldn't it? A very unsettling thing to do and not helpful at all even if it were true.

Like a player TM is doing a fine job but has not achieved anything yet. That's not to disparage him in any way but I think for the moment he will stay where he is. he sees promotion in his first season at the club a possibility and if he does that from where CCFC have been then he may be a target. And if he does achieve it and we go up...who the hell are Fulham?

Of course it was down to the fans but media pressure did help by keeping the whole bollox alive.

Yes, Simon has vanished from here but took to peddling stories on Facebook now. I'm embarrassed for them.

Think Simon's a decent guy - at least he took the time to come on here and engage.

I would imagine the stuff that came out in the ethics hearing was a) before his time and b) well above his pay grade.

That said he probably feels a little foolish now having vigorously defended the CT only to have it revealed they did a deal with CCC to ensure a clear path for Wasps to complete their takeover of ACL. I find it very poor that the paper hasn't addressed what came out, appreciate a lot of those involved aren't there now but I feel its something they really need to clear up.

What I don't get is if you all believe it is bullshit then don't read it simple really.

Well before you read it you don't know what its going to be. That's why its clickbait! We're all going to click if something pops up on social media implying Mogga is about to leave. Only when you read it does it turn out to be complete rubbish.

And of course there are those that believe every word printed. Look at the comments on the story, plenty of people on there slating SISU for something that hasn't happened yet and chances are won't happen. Constant negativity, same with the phone in, does not help get people through the door.

See the opening of the North Stand this weekend has been hidden in todays digest. Why is that not splashed about as good news, that's what happens when Wasps sell a ticket.

I genuinely didn't know the North Stand was being opened. However, I knew Mowbray was off to Fulham and it's all SISUs fault.

It seems he is a victim in this saga. Pity he appears to have left us.

Why though? Why not get as many people as possible to get to the game on Saturday?

I would hope that they'd be doing both.
A journalist once told me that speculation is a major part of the sports pages in any paper. You have to produce stories every day and filling column inches* when there isn't a game or a bit of news from the club isn't easy. Hence why there is a lot of speculation on the back pages not just in local papers but nationals too.
I guess the same is true in the digital era and pressure from above to meet targets won't help.

In regards to that link, that would be a horrible working environment. I may not agree with a lot of stuff they write but they still have mouths to feed etc, to have that sort of pressure isn't nice. Hopefully they can find a different job somewhere.

I can understand it for the sales guys but the journalists, sheesh.

Looks like they are a dying institution.
Interesting to note that CT sales are falling at a rate 10% below the Mail and only lag by about 4000 copies.
I did look up from to see from the Guardian article If Mirror groups purchase of the other
proprietors portfolio would include Observer and re-unite LR with his former colleagues, alas not.
Interesting though while I was In there I found Articles On Wasps matches among all the other wide ranging sports coverage. Articles too for venues promoting forthcoming acts /attractions and Shows, specifically the Belgrade and Warwick Arts Centre.
Just a general observation and only in here as I was replying anyway.

This is another good example:

http://www.coventrytelegraph.net/ne...r-coventry-university-student-jailed-10607659

The crime happened in london, it was judged in London but the woman used to go to cov uni so it's big news here?

I feel sorry for the reporters if they are basically limited now to re-writing stories just to try and generate clicks rather than reporting news and investigating. I doubt they enjoy it. It is going to get to the point where anybody big in the news who once stopped a corley services for a piss is going to get an article.

Come back at 4 to see the responses about my response.

I remember when that whale died in the Tahmaes a few years ago, Central News interviewed visitors at Seaworld Birmingham for their reaction.

Now that's a fucking shoehorning!

The CET did a deal with CCC to ensure a clear path for Wasps??

Have the CET, wasps or the CCC said this happened?

There was something about all that in the Council Ethics hearing i think.

Was on holiday in Lanzarote at the time, so only skim read the posts from then.

Lanzarote, where even I feel young!

I think it was about the bail out, and all the same as when les reid went gardening, then he came back the same day the editor went. He then got a pay out.

Apparently they did a deal to keep the story quiet.

Some other stuff was also in the ethics meeting about the editor being briefed and pr stuff. Again, dated with the old editor I think.

No mention of it in the telegraph or a statement saying it's not true
