There's still a seat available on the Oxford fans minibus

There's whole blocks available in the away end

You've got plenty of time, we're only just up the road, no excuses.
I’m not sure I do still have time. I live in Texas hence I’ll be watching on paramount.

Still jet lagged from the trip back for the Norwich game 🤓

So I’m interested to read your tactics. Some of your fans stating you pass around at the back too much and others saying you’re better on all out attack.

We have adopted a 4-1-4-1 formation with a controlled press. Well let you own possession and sit off you, but then the press will trigger at random points when a regressive pass is made which seems to catch opponents off guard. We rely on that for opportunities as well as a quick transition and fast counter attack.

I imagine you will dominate the ball and best chances will be from multiple crosses / set pieces or some iffy goalkeeping . So do you have good aerial threat ?

I think those tactics are a good shout against CCFC at the moment. Slow, ambling passes around the back, which result in the ball being given away either in our own third of the pitch or in hurried passes to an opponent further forward.

Our corner routines seem to just be lumping it in and hoping for the best. Quick transitions and counter attacks served us well in this league for a couple of seasons, it's a wise approach for a new team.

What running gear you get?

Two training tops and, I never thought I’d say this, a training vest too! Tested the vest out this afternoon and it’s decent to run in.

There’s some training shorts I’ve been tempted by as well, as they look like a better bet for running than the kit shorts, but not gone for it yet!

Got a hat to wear too!

why do you think that? Sloppy passes from the back?

*several sloppy passes from the back over 2 games.

He looks to me exactly how he was at the start of last season. He will get better, as we know he can do it. But I think it's been 2 games in a row that his distribution has been poor and I think he'll pay the price tonight.

Can't believe the must win game stuff has started after one league game :ROFLMAO:

We could lose 5-0 tonight and win the league.

We could win 5-0 and finish 12th.

I don't know why people are getting so hung up on this game as if it's going to define our season!

He had a 90% pass completion against Bristol, Kitching had 80%. He made a couple of bad ones trying to force the play which always make things look worse.

A poor start isn't the end of the world, but I wouldn't want to be 6 points behind Burnley after only 2 games

I agree it is not going to define our season. But a real statement of intent would be nice. I would rather get at them and attack and unluckily lose than amble about playing slow football that goes nowhere and lose 1-0

Is the A444 also closed from J3 to the CBS Arena before the game? Just notice it is now on google maps journey planning. Thanks

Oh I don't disagree with any of that. I'd love nothing more than to see us play really positively and stick at least a couple past them

I would dispute that 90%, maybe Stevie Wonder was the analyst?

Anyway, admittedly he was better vs Bristol but everyone else was. I like Bobby, but he's struggling with this side of his game at the moment in my opinion.

Think it’s more slow starts costing us year in year out, there’s no excuse for this to be the same

How’s it hard to fathom, we were shit opening day and now have a home game against a side we scored 6 against last season. It should be a routine win, anything less is worrying.
It’s hard for me to fathom, after 1 or 2 games, as throughout the season we will play how we did against Stoke and win, similarly draw and conversely play much better and lose. We will likely lose +/- 15 games this season, is everyone going to worry every time we do…

If we lose 5-0 at home to newly promoted Oxford there's no way we're winning the league, come on.

F**k em mate. f**king Envy Coventry. All they're famous for is motor cars , jet engines lady godiva and being important enough to bomb in ww2

I thought we would take more if I'm honest, as it looks like somewhere between 1,500/2,000 will be going and that's a bit Tinpot .. Saturday 3pm and not on Sky, and we'd have sold 2 or 3 hundred more .I think it is a pretty attractive game for our first game back up because Coventry are massive. I reckon we'll see that tomorrow's Oxford crowd will be many from a certain age, like you and me, who've waited a long time for this and are determined not to miss a minute of this season. I think a lot of the younger generation, who've only been going a few years, might not realise just how significant this game is because we probably won't play Coventry again after this season for another 15 years .

What I do know is that when God handed out birthrights I f*****g wish mine said Coventry and not oxfordshire because all people know us for is our Harry Potter looking university and our participation in a wanky boat race .We'll be there, and we'll be proud, and if any Coventry t**t wants to try and take the P**s then let them because theyd knock f**k out of us . Lady Godiva has great tits too

They will have 25,000 more fans there than us and that's impressive .

so much so that I just want to say PUSB , oxford are tinpot

Hi there folks. Oxford fan here.

Our toughest test tomorrow and certainly memories of how you utterly dismantled us last season, and you compounding a very bad run that we were already on. You looked excellent that day and showed us the standard to aspire to. Needless to say we are all very surprised 8 months later to be playing you in the same league. But after 25 years absence, plunging down to the conference, we are pretty happy just to be back and making up the numbers. You are clearly favourites tomorrow and many of you have perhaps rightly predicted a home victory.

There’s a little bit of harshness on this forum though about our away support for tomorrow. The permanent non student population of Oxford is 120,000. By contrast Coventry-Bedworth is three times that at 450,000. The average home support that you get is about three times more than us.

Our home support is 9000 so to bring nearly 1600 (20% of our home support) to you isn’t terrible on a Friday night sky tv game. it would be the equivalent of you taking about 5,000 to an away game.

A little additional context …in September 2018 you came to our place for a sky game and brought 774 fans (3% of current home support).

Get your maths off our bloody forum right now, haven’t you got a boat race to concentrate on?

Bobert Thomas has made a few dodgy passes, but generally it’s been when he’s been taking risks with his passing. I don’t think he should be dropped, but let’s see what the gaffer does.

Had to have a nose on their forum, and it seems like their win against Norwich has lulled them into a false sense of security. Although, it shows their mentality that they’re still hyped to have beaten a L1 team mid week. They think their team is a lot better than it is. The Championship is one of the hardest leagues and is relentless. I’d imagine if we give it another 6-8 weeks when teams settle and they start getting relentlessly eaten alive every 3 days their opinion of the league might change.

Making the most of the stars aligning with the first game of the season and having a kid free evening.

First ones in at Byatts; not sure if that’s impressive or a worry.

Chopping and changing the defence generally didn’t work too well last season. If one poor game leads to being dropped then it won’t really help with the over cautious football we’re seeing.

Look at some of the posts on here after we won our first ‘home’ game at this level against QPR.
