Look at some of the posts on here after we won our first ‘home’ game at this level against QPR.
Exactly, and we stayed up… just. They’ve only got to take one look at Rotherham last year, once the league starts getting on top of you.

Freak seasons like Ipswich aside, the first season up is invariably always a hard fought battle to stay in the division. If Oxford play as described today, then with our current weaknesses it’s a good plan.

Had to have a nose on their forum, and it seems like their win against Norwich has lulled them into a false sense of security. Although, it shows their mentality that they’re still hyped to have beaten a L1 team mid week. They think their team is a lot better than it is. The Championship is one of the hardest leagues and is relentless. I’d imagine if we give it another 6-8 weeks when teams settle and they start getting relentlessly eaten alive every 3 days their opinion of the league might change.
Optimism shouldn’t be confused with assumption.

We know we are favourites to get relegated and just happy to be back. We would bite your hand off for 21st place right now

Saturday was a pleasant surprise but we know we caught Norwich at the right time.

beating Peterborough is enjoyable as they’re an excellent league one outfit who we’ve been battling with for a few seasons and to see our reserves dominate them was an unusual experience

Tbf what you describe in regards to Peterborough was actually how I felt in the cup game against you last season. I remember you beating us, and finishing above us, many times while we were in the lower leagues. It was a reminder of quickly we’ve risen.

Some great options on the bench.
Just add Sheaf to that match day squad and it looks very impressive. (On paper at least)

Hi there folks. Oxford fan here.

Our toughest test tomorrow and certainly memories of how you utterly dismantled us last season, and you compounding a very bad run that we were already on. You looked excellent that day and showed us the standard to aspire to. Needless to say we are all very surprised 8 months later to be playing you in the same league. But after 25 years absence, plunging down to the conference, we are pretty happy just to be back and making up the numbers. You are clearly favourites tomorrow and many of you have perhaps rightly predicted a home victory.

There’s a little bit of harshness on this forum though about our away support for tomorrow. The permanent non student population of Oxford is 120,000. By contrast Coventry-Bedworth is three times that at 450,000. The average home support that you get is about three times more than us.

Our home support is 9000 so to bring nearly 1600 (20% of our home support) to you isn’t terrible on a Friday night sky tv game. it would be the equivalent of you taking about 5,000 to an away game.

A little additional context …in September 2018 you came to our place for a sky game and brought 774 fans (3% of current home support).

Great Cov related username. Booby G agreed to buy Ricky Otto only to pull out of the deal when Ricky turned up with an agent. Killed our Destination Europe plans for the first season of the Prem stone dead. Ricky went to Bham in the Football League insyead.

Would have preferred Thomas and Dasilva in, but I'm generally happy with that team. Need Rudoni to play as a more box to box midfielder and come collect from the defence and drive forwards. Nervously excited for this one.

So no Collins, Tavares, Howley, Burroughs, Obikwu, Dausch can see a few of them out the door in next few weeks. Sheaf and Rodriguez get fit be another 2 looking in from the outside.
