I’m more than a bit worried about Sakamoto’s contribution so far this season .
Portsmouth was another game that passed him by , so an alternative on the right might be required & one to influence the game for more than a minute

Sakamoto’s a player who will unlock a tough defence when we’re on top and can’t score, not grab a game by the scruff of the neck and win it single handedly.

He's the only player who can somewhat reliably play in that position out on the right, which is the same problem we have with MVE. Both could use some rotation but the drop off from them is huge.

I'm not sure what he's being told to do. Certainly away it's to hold back and tuck in.
He needs to be given freedom to attack. Generally we need to be an attacking team given our squad shape and shite defence.

we haven’t played any entertaining football all season so hopefully we pull something out the bag tomorrow, 30,000 hungover fans to keep entertained for 90 mins, 5-4 classic please

Last minute winner against Oxford to win 3-2.
Come backs against Luton and Sheff Utd.

Came back from 2-0 down against Sunderland.

Those games weren't too bad as far as entertainments concerned.

not bad games but I meant more entertaining actual football from us, like the first 15 mins against portsmouth but for 90 mins ( think that may be a bit too optimistic) anyway the new Xmas lucky socks are getting their first run out so 👍

I think Frank needs to move away from favoring ex-Chelsea players and return to the defensive unit that proved so solid last season. After last weekend's performance, he should give chances to:
Defense: Bidwell, Kitching, Thomas, and MVE, with Dovin in goal Formation: 4-1-3-2 with:
  • Dovin
  • MVE - Thomas - Kitching - Bidwell
  • Sheaf
  • Saka - Rudoni - EMC
  • Simms - Basette
Ellis deserves a start up front, and I think is worth trying next to the hound.

Maybe drop sheaf and saka, play Rudoni on the right with torp and Eccles in midfield. Would definitely like to see simms and Bassett start up top together

All feels a bit deckchairs on the titanic until Wright comes back or we finally click. I’m not sure I’d add another new system in now. Let’s keep trying to get better at Lampards preferred formation first.

Can see your logic but at home to a poor team with Sheaf as a dedicated holding midfielder screening the back four with Rudoni's box-to-box capabilities could be useful in preventing the team from being overrun. Simms and Basette as a partnership should help the team retain possession more effectively in advanced areas, which naturally should take pressure off the midfield.

These new Christmas socks, what evidence do you have that they are lucky?

4-2-2-2.

Back four from last year. Milan overlaps with Rudoni. Bidwell stays further back to cover

Sheaf stays back to help protect the back four and to cover for Milan going further up. Torp plays with EMC on the left using the underlap.

Simms and Norman up front as think both cancels each others issues for a single striker. Defends in a 4-4-2. Attacks in a 3-1-4-2.

Like the idea of this but we lack the discipline and organisation to pull this off. Would be great to see Simms and Norm up top.
