A typical midweek evening performance from us. No urgency.

Grimes needs to push up more. Worried having both him and Sheaf on will see us sit far too deep.

Give it until the hour but if no improvement MC off for Simms and move Wright to LW.

Nice of the ref to go all the way across the pitch and "have a word" for a yellow card challenge.

Game was paused for 4 mins but 3 mins added on though 🙌

That was wank, too many off their game, Wright no service, EMC not effective, Saka having. decent game, midfield non existent really. Need a rocket up their arse and a lot more energy. We should still be ahead from a pen.

HT view (from TV) - Saka/ MVE/ Rudoni playing well. EMC more involved that recent games, but still needs to offer more. Give it another 15 and, if not in front, bring on Simms for EMC.

You’d hope someone would fling one of the coaches a phone and show Gavin ward the handball for the penalty

Omfg

and the second cynical foul on saka clear as day yellow card

we need to up the effort in the second half

Missing out without a whimper would be annoying

Well, an unmemorable first half with some woeful decision making by the ref and thats about it. Pompey had more chances but honestly bar hitting the bar don't think they've offered a tonne.

Grimes needs to start being bolder with moving us forward - and EMC needs to back himself again because 20 stepovers means bugger all if you don't take on your man.

A frantic game suits them better than it does us. Need Grimes and Sheaf to impose a bit of control on the game.

Pretty poor half that. Really flat, no intensity and look like we're out of ideas. Had 1 or 2 moments but looks so vulnerable at the back.

Saka decent. Rudoni should score. EMC showed flashes, but not enough. Everyone else pretty meh. Agree with the poster that said EMC off. Simms through the middle and Wright left.

We really are not good enough for playoffs shout. Too many performances like this. Think Allen would have been a better option than Sheaf, especially with 70+ minutes to go.
So many mistakes across the board.
The second half needs to be far better if we are to get a win.

This ref is diabolical. Are there any decent refs in the football league? Stone wall penalty turned down, obvious yellow that he didn't give just before half time.

Two absolutely shocking decisions in that half. First, blatant penalty for handball; he lifted his hands to block the ball, it's not even for debate.

Second, not to book that bloke for a cynical foul. How was it not a booking? Just because you've played on, doesn't make it better.

Saying that, we've not been very good; it's all so slow, and they have chance to get into position.

Wright's our best player, by a distance. He's more effective, and more involved, when he plays on the left. Therefore, play him there. EMC's decent, but he's not Wright. We're hamstringing ourselves playing our best player where he's not as involved in the game.

It's almost as if its hard to play this ST role in this lampard system...

Makes you wonder how much an effect the big media carnival about Tats getting a new contract has had on the rest of the team. I know if there was a big hullabaloo in public about an individual being rewarded where I work, the response might be less than positive. A bit more discretion is not always a bad thing.
