Yes it's valid to have an opinion but it's how that opinion gets expressed. I imagine there are people in your workplace who's performance you find underwhelming but you don't scream obscenities at them and then go and post shit on their social media. If you did your employer would sack you and rightly so.

Obviously when I say you, I don't mean "you" specifically

That's totally not the same thing though - so Robins will sack you if you slag off a City player on social media?

He’s correct though - why can a good 45 minutes in a cup game negate what have been a series of poor league performances ?

I'm aware that football is a unique situation and that it will.always illicit more emotion, of course it will. I'm just making the point that (some) fans behave towards players in a way that they wouldn't behave towards anyone else.
