I would rather take the points here - so go for it - then park the bus at Leeds for a point

I have a feeling O'Hare may be rested to manage his work load and this forum is going to lose its SHIT.
Back in the day Liverpool won the league,(42 matches) league cup, the & European cup using 14 players all season, and most of them played internationals too. how times have changed.

Do we? Surely we could apply for special dispensation from the EFL to play both Southampton and Leeds simultaneously tonight. Would cut down on fixture congestion and boost the attendance too.

boo your quick wit

Think of the economy! Not to mention the tertiary benefit!

Surely one of the CBs would be the obvious contender to be left out the squad. We don’t need 3 on the bench, especially as we’re only playing with 2 anyway.

Latibeaudiere is useful in a couple of roles so it won’t be him, so it’s between Binks and Fadz. You could make a case for either.

He won't rest the 2 best players from Friday night. No chance surely. I can understand O'Hare in a way, managing his recovery, and he will certainly be needed at Leeds on Sat. In that case Eccles comes in, and we push Allen further forward.
It's not a question of who was best. It's about fitness.

2 things I dont want to see are Ayari playing and Palmer starting.
The players have had 5 nights rest, most should be absolutely fine to play again. Maybe a half for Calum but he's just hit form so let him continue to build on that rather than stop start.

Same 11

Godden back into squad, unsure who thats going to be for, could be Kasey Palmer as hes not firing on all cylinders yet

I'm surprised no Eccles tonight. But we are at home, and Allen does tend to play further forward. Also good to let a winning team keep playing together (y)

Pleased that we’re starting the same 11, Simms and Wright clearly need as much time together as they can get, every week we look better and better. Let’s hope the winning formula works again! 🙏🏻

I’ll go for a tentative 1-1, I don’t think that’d be a bad result considering how good Adam Armstrong has been looking recently and the fact Southampton are 12 games unbeaten.

Must admit looking at some of the old cov games they were really physical played at very high tempo. Those lads were really fit.

To avoid my usual turnstile moan; which gates tend to be quieter? Last few games has been an absolute ballache.

I sat in Block 20 but don’t care where I walk in. Usually get there about 7/7:15.

The game has changed out of all proportion to the "we can play 14 players a season and win the league." Liverpool this season have used more players than anyone and regularly rotate. Incidentally, some Liverpool fans were calling for Klopp to be sacked when the team were changing their personal and were not doing so well, (sounds familiar?) The new subs rule has changed the dynamic and fresh legs can change a match. Forget the 70 and 80s when frankly players were relatively unfit and drank like fish. Wenger changed the dynamic with diet, exercise, warming up, warming down etc and that was the 90s. To keep the same team and tactics may sometimes be wrong and again 70/80s way of thinking. Sometimes changing formations does not work so well but I would pit MR and AV's footballing experience and brains against most football posters. They see training, form, illness and personal events that distrupt form. Sometimes you have to accept that a team were better than us, but we came within a whisker of a draw in the end at Ipswich. Southampton will be a tough game they are flying and we never do well against Martin even when 3-0 up! However, they sound as if the result is a foregone conclusion and that is always a great way to motivate the City

I can remember going from an all nighter straight to a Sunday League game, scoring a bullet header in the 2nd minute, puking in the 6 yard box, going off and sleeping on the sidelines for the rest of the game
