Back in business. Let Simms loose for a brace. 2-1.

Wednesday will park the bus and play deep so wouldn't be surprised too see BTA out wide as no space for him to run into through the middle. Other than that I'd go pretty much with the same team with Simms replacing Tats.
Agree with bringing Simms in. Although I think trying Simms wider could work and he has looked dangerous in that position and where there is space for him to run into with or onto the ball. If you look at a few of his goals at previous clubs, he seems very effective from that position.

I just think we lose the effectiveness of BTAs energy and press on opposition CBs if starting out wide so I say let BTA establish some more game time in the central position.

This is a very good approach for me, remember Preston away second half,he was a beast and we nearly got back in that game Second half substitute I recall?

Not sure why people want Simms back in immediately and I don’t see Robins doing it after describing BTA on Tuesday as “the best centre forward performance for the club for some time”.

I think he’ll probably go the same team with EMC for Saka. Probably needs to make subs earlier than Tuesday though.

MR was angry with himself and the team after the Swansea game
He trusted the players that had been so good v spurs to reproduce but he admitted he made a mistake and that it wouldn't happen again
So I expect a few changes

It’ll be

Wilson
Mve
Thomas
Kitching
Bidwell
Rudoni
Eccles
Sheaf
Mason Clark
Bta
Wright

unless he wants to her Lati in for Thomas
Binks for kitching
Sheaf can’t start two on the trot so torp
Simms possibly for bta
Bassette possibly for mason clark

I’m excited rather than fearful

CDM - Sheaf
CDM - Eccles

team that finished the game on Tuesday, 100% keep that defensive unit together we need to have a bit of consistency in selection back there and especially since they kept a clean sheet,
The midfield 3 were quality genuinely could be one of the best midfield trios in the league,
EMC in for Tatsu he’s got a point to prove and he got the assist for BTA’s goal,
Up front its BTA’s shirt to lose now

But the team he picked v spurs was slightly rotated.

He was angry with himself because he knew it wasn’t his best side, but got carried away off the back of one good performance.

The team he picked on Tuesday was what he felt his best side would be, he’ll pick it again.

I think he trusted the majority of Tuesdays team to put in a performance. Think a few were picked on character

I saw a thread on this before but i would like to see us get the ball forward quicker like we did Tuesday night again. Think we're much better suited to this instead of playing a more possession based game as i don't think our back 4 are comfortable enough on the ball.
There's still a place in the modern game for that style of football . Brentford and Villa play it effectively in the Premier league.Klopps Liverpool side also

Think that’s the new plan. With BTA harassing the defenders we can lump it up and even if we don’t win first contact, we’ll put pressure to try and win it in midfield or high up the pitch to allow us to break.

It's pretty much the style that got us to the play off final to be fair . Difference this time around is we have more than 2-3 players that can hurt teams once we get on the front foot

100%.

Think it also suits our forward players - I don't mean lumping it forward either i mean playing through the lines using Sheafs abilities to get it to our front 4 quickly and then getting at their back 4.

Just think we went back to basics and what we know Tuesday night. Hopefully see it again Sat!

No I totally agree . When we were flying last season we were hitting the channels early and getting Simms in behind . It allowed O'Hare ,Sheaf and Sakamoto to play in the space left behind

My only concern is that at the moment whoever plays on the right doesn't track back enough, leaving MVE to decide which of two players to cover

Hopefully that is being worked on with the coaching staff , it was certainly noticeable that Wright tracked back much more Tuesday.

I'm just hoping MR doesn't become a tinker man and mess too much with a winning formula

The mistake was playing an unchanged team v Swansea after a surprisingly good performance v Spurs. The team at Watford away played v well and imo, would’ve done better in that game.

Leeds was a bit of a write off because of how good they are and it’s away. I expect the team against Wednesday will remain unchanged aside from EMC for Sakamoto.

The fact it's international break after this I think will see us be unchanged

As much as Tuesday was a great result and something to build on I though there was a lot of stray passing throughout the team, in terms of choice of pass and execution.
Don't know if conditions played a part but its something that will need improving on.
It was mostly first half when the whole side seemed jittery and nervous , thought we were a lot more composed second half especially after the second goal

So did EMC, that was the first time I’ve seen him work back properly.
I think he’s had the facts of life explained to him about the expectations of the effort needed in the championship compared with League 1. If he continues like he did on Tuesday he will be a great asset for us.
