Poor poor performance. Maybe winner was offside but I don't care. We were shite.

Robins too cautious. Happy for a point rather than risk it for a win. Not enough subs..no shape changes

Sheaf at fault in lead up to goal again. Porn tired. Why not give torp a cameo?

Emc was non existent and on pitch too long.

Thomas and bidwell did well defensively. Wilson is not a starting goalkeeper!

I love mark robins and I don't want him sacked. But it might happen if he doesn't figure this situation out soon. Intl breaks tend to be time owners pull the trigger.

It’s not a shape issue. We don’t have the players either in terms of quality or mentality.
At least give the players a chance in their best positions. BTA cannot play wide right but he gets out there to maintain the shape. We’re getting outdone in midfield but don’t play a flat 3.

It was very poor from players and management. Stood watching it unfold and keeping everything the same.

Wright is so inconsistent when he plays well, the team plays well. Today he was really none existent and so we weren't good. Not just Wright's fault today but to me he is our talisman. Kitching is rubbish and I don't think Wilson is the answer in goal. Never thought i would say this but I think we need a change at the top. Everything has gone stale.

I’d agree - drop one and play Torp and Rudoni with the other - although ideally we’d have at least one more option (and Jamie Allen is NOT an option), but they fucked it in the transfer window

on a related note, Browne looked decent when he came on for Sunderland last night 🙄
They both primarily play the ball horizontally, which isn’t bad on an individual level. The issue is that because both of them do it, our phases of play become quickly predictable.

How many times would MVE/Bidwell be wide open in space and most of the time, we’d switch it in 2-4 passes (Sheaf to CB to Eccles then switch or vice versa) rather than one pass. By the time it gets out wide the opposition has shifted over.

Wright, EMC and BTA rarely got the ball in space - it was mostly in traffic where we needed to move the ball to them quicker.

The defence, well, Thomas and Kitching… they’re the best we’ve got and we could barely keep a clean sheet last season. That’s probably not going to change until either they improve or we get new personnel in. We’re conceding close to 2 goals a game and it just isn’t tenable. More concerning is just how soft the defending is when we concede. If we close out the first half, we win this game by 2 or 3 goals (you’d think).

Bullied, not enough commitment and no clear game plan.

Rudoni, Sheaf, Eccles honourable mentions but just not good enough as a te

Can’t turn up for 10 minute spells and expect to win.

Pissed off.

honourable mentions for doing what?

other than score Rudoni went missing for large periods, but was probably the best of a bad bunch

Sheaf ok in patches, a couple of needed challenges but nothing special

Eccles one decent cross field ball but otherwise shite

The midfield isn’t good enough

Anybody heard Robins interview after match yet?

I'm not sure I even want to. It'll be the usual load of "blah blah blah" and to be honest I'd rather the time was spent telling some home truths to that lot in the changing room, because some of them really need to hear it.

If the balance is wrong you change the system to suit the balance for the players we have.
But what if they are out of form?

Wright today, was awful apparently.

So it's hard to get the balance when a player is playing really well one game and then to only disappear the next.

Wright is very much like that. So too Simms, so too Rudoni, so too Torp and even MVE.

There seems to be a complete lack of consistency.

Who is playing well every match? Week in, week out. Who is consistent ? How many can you name?

He’s a striker playing out wide, he needs to get the ball in space and not in traffic. By the time he gets the ball, the opposition has 8 players in the box more often than not.

Wright wasn’t awful he just didn’t get in the game enough and when he doesn’t we struggle.

The system is a mess. I have no idea where Mason Clarke was supposed to be playing. The midfield was hopelessly out of shape for the second goal

It’s a shambles

You'd have to say yes. It's a top 6 squad in terms of players.

The way this forum slates the squad we haven’t got a top 6 squad. At least 6 or 7 of this first team are classed as League 1 players

I’d agree with this, the midfield isn’t creative enough and play always slows through them, puts us under pressure and allows the other team to reset - we won’t make the best use of our wealth of attackers, and also play a horizontal pass and lose it and the pressure is back on the defence

We weren’t bullied. We looked the better team throughout, but if you’re going to concede stupid goals, you’re not going to win very often.

The second half should’ve been them playing for an equaliser and we get opportunities to catch them out. But no, another embarrassing goal gifted and they get to put 10 men behind the ball to get a smash and grab win.

We look like England in the Euros in attack, running out of ideas quickly. Unlike that team, we just can’t defend.

Jesus, it’s mad on here. We got edged out in a tight game. It happens. Where did the narrative that we should just steamroller teams come from? There are good teams in this league. We are one of them. Average displays all round today. Simms looks like he’s checked out. BTA and Eccles were out best performers. Thomas got himself out of trouble well a few times.

Yup. That's it in a nutshell. For whatever reason, this squad is just not functioning. I can't see changing the manager is going to make any difference.

If the balance is all wrong, it needs more movement in a transfer window and we don't have that option now until January.

We spent all our money, bought shite and now its all gone, no point changing manager
We just seem to be disjointed.

Seems that way.

I just can't believe that Robins has suddenly become a bad manager overnight. It makes no sense.

I think we bought decent players, but that the players do not work together in the system for whatever reason.

Seems what is going on, on the training ground isn't right.

It's baffling.

They made sure when Wright had the ball near their penalty box they had at least 2 players marking him.
