Bristol City seem to be an example of both of these from my very limited knowledge. Fair enough they have an owner who supports the club and recently converted £71m of debt to shares, but they actually turned a profit regardless. And yes, they also own their own stadium..

I remember them trying to buy Dwight Gayle when they first went up and him moaning how ridiculous it was that they were quoted £6m. They stuck to their model, improved year by year and now they're in and around the play-offs and just spent £5m on Nakhi Wells

Preston are someone that seem to be trying to do it right as well.

The last accounts show Preston’s wage bill at £15m and Bristol City’s at nearly £30m

Our wage budget is only likely to be doubled in the Championship with our current situation and would be nothing short of a miracle to stay up should we get promoted

From what I saw, absolute best case scenario we could turn over £10 million barring a massive spike in ticket sales. Which is about where we were in 2012

Big chance for Baka today. Got to put himself about and really involve himself. Needs to be on tor’s rather than heels in the box

Thought they both played well tbf, but Biamou would always edge it for me.

Bakayoko is the better player - there’s little argument there and he’s probably waking up to the fact that unless he does something he’s on the dole in June

That midfield 4 of Kelly, Walsh, Allen and O'Hare... Don't think I've been as excited to watch a midfield since about 1999 with McAllister, Chippo, Hadji, Froggatt
I was thinking the same the other day. We now have the best midfield squad since we dropped out of the Prem, with Westbrooke & Shipley on the bench.

If he's the better player and there is little argument why will he be on the dole in june ?
