Home win, and by some margin. Can see us really building up some momentum into the final run-in now. If we do thump Yeovil there will be such a feel good factor at the club as the sense builds we could be on for something really special.
Hope you're right, but I do think it might be quite tight and it looks like it's going to be a mudbath too, which might just even things up somewhat.

Forecast is heavy rain all day.

Don't get this 'rust' thing, unless they're made of metal and are affected by all the rain that's been about. They will have had a break at a good time for them, If I were MR, I would use the squad to ensure we have fresh legs too. Reid in - rest Vincenti (unless Yeovil have a few lanky players), Agree with Esoterica when he says it is important that we attack them early and get on the front foot. Also fans can [;at a big part too. Important game which could help cement play off place. Cock it up and we will be looking over our shoulders again.

If you've ever played a reasonable standard of sport, it's a thing. You can train at high intensities, even in conditions that surpass actual matches, but, it doesn't beat the real the thing. Had they played on the 24th, I'd say they'd have an advantage. Matches build great momentum and I think with Yeovil having their break after their good run, it's hopefully killed their momentum.

Managers always say they don't like a blank weekend.

In this case Yeovil haven't played since the 17th March.

I do believe match sharpness could indeed prove to be an issue.

Nowhere near as bad as Haynes has been. The bloke offers absolutely nothing going forward, constantly gives the ball away, cannot cross or beat a man and is a defensive nightmare. In fact, he’s had a hand in the last 3 goals we’ve conceded all of which were avoidable.

I’m not saying Stokes is the player he once was but he’s far more steady and reliable than Haynes, who I pray doesn’t ever pull on the shirt again after this season.

i don't agree, I think Stokes has been worse. His performance at FGR was terrible.
If Stokes can't regain his form then we'll need two new left backs if we go up because they'll be a liability in league one for sure.

Think we may change one or two.

Going to be a tough game I reckon. We can't expect everyone to just roll over like Grimsby.

Shame Davies probably isn't ready and of course poor old Superbakes has a bit of a cold.

I agree about changing one of two, it will freshen it up a bit.

I got shot down for mentioning it on the Newport match thread, but think it's the right decision

I would keep it the same team and am expecting them to park the bus so will be a tight affair. Reid oto
come on again make an impact and us to sneak it 1 or 2-0 and then s et it up nicely for Notts County which could be our biggest and most important league game for years.

The lesser of two evils?

that's what it's come down to. I think Haynes is the lesser of the two at the moment but it's obviously an problem position.
Still hopeful Stokes can regain form. Maybe he just needs this season to end and get a good pre season under his belt, it happens.

Think we should probably leave things unchanged unless players injured though would nor mind resting Vincenti or Shipley with Reid being one to come in and maybe even Biamou out wide? Having said that doubt MR will change things much think we will go with.

Burge
Grimmer
Haynes
MacDonald
Hyam
Doyle
Bayliss
Shipley
Vincenti
McNulty
JCH

Subs: O'Brien, Davies, Stokes, Kelly, Reid, Biamou, Ponticelli

I said we'd win 2-0 against Newport but I was just a couple days early so I'm going to keep that prediction for tomorrow. Only changes will be for fitness/injury concerns.

I dont think this is a must win, we need 3 or 4 wins before the end of the season in the next 7 games, that means we could lose three games and still make the playoffs. I think we have the team to grind that out.

If we dont beat Yoevil at home then we dont deserve to get promoted.

I dont get the Haynes thing. For years we have been wanting our full backs to push up. He runs at defenders and makes things happen. Stokes is more defensive, like we played at the start of the season.

Mind you, from where I was standing at Newport it looked to me that Burges 'worldy' was from Ryan Haynes head.

Oh and 5-0, unchanged start.

Yeah, play-offs wise it's not a must win. Any hope of the top 3 and it is though.

It is a must win. Arguably one of our easiest game remaining in the run-in. But besides, Mansfield and Lincoln could overtake us if we fail to win. More importantly, automatics are still in sight, we need to keep the pressure on.

I would say for the playoffs 4 more wins would probably be enough. We have 7 games left.

On the play off front I wouldn't be too upset with a draw tomorrow.

He makes nothing happen oh and minor detail for a defender - he can’t defend

Light rain now forecast for tomorrow afternoon.

Well that's the thing. Predominantly, surely a fullback should be a defender first and foremost.

Haynes struggles with the defensive side.

Just checked again. Says heavy rain 6am - 7am and then light rain after.

Pitch isn't going to be great for sure.

Well boys 7 games left would you accept a playoff spot at this moment now?

or

Let it roll on and take a chance on either automatics and risk dropping out playoffs?

Yes banana skin and all that aside, but I think we will do well tomorrow. Tight first half then the flood gates will open.
4-0

Don't mention 'flood' gates.

I went out at 10 last night to walk the dog, then checked at 12, 2am and 4am and it has been raining all night and not light rain either.

Forecast now is light rain all day.

The pitch is going to cut up badly I reckon and the ball may well stick. Could well be telling on tired legs.

With Yeovil not having played since the 17th of March I am concerned that as the game wears on we may tire badly if we are running through treacle all afternoon.

Be nice if we went a couple of goals up really early.

Could prove to be a bit of a banana skin game, this, I feel.

1-1. Us to go a goal up and then we spend most of the second half hanging on.
