If we were in the Premier League, I'd fully expect to lose 38 matches across the season. And I'd still be delighted.

I'm quite sure we wouldn't have got the same PPG under Lampard if he was in place from the start of the season. But I'm also quite sure we would have got more points if he had been. When you consider we're in 6th and 3 points above 7th and were just 2 points above the relegation places when he took over the table would look totally different now.Would we have averaged the same PPG across the whole season under Lampard? Would be nice to think so but how many years have we had now where we've spent the off season talking about how we've got a relatively settled side and should hit the ground running yet it never seems to happen.
Assuming we don't go up this year that will be the big test for Lampard. Not sure we've got a huge number of players who will be eyeing moves to bigger clubs and hopefully there's scope to strengthen the squad so hopefully, finally, we'll have a decent start to the season and not throw away the first few months.
You don't watch a lot of games do you?Mowbray always stacks up defensively. He will do so again. We have a few injuries but a good squad that should cope. Allen could be a big factor. He was awesome against Sunderland...if only he could be that consistant? But if we get that from Allen then Sheaf can be benched, who is notorious for slumbering his way to match fitness. I disagree about DaSilva. I've seen more crosses come in from Bidwells trusty left foot on the overlap than anything from DaSilva? We can't afford another weak defended attempt. We also need to bring in Tats more and instruct Simms to get in the 6 yard box quicker and throw himself at the ball if necessary! Binks in? We need some height. Collin's still worries me. Thought the Hull keeper was amazing the way well struck balls stuck to him like glue and on crosses showed tremendous confidence and commanded his area.
We need to start well and get an early goal.
Disagree they should be helping out defensively. They cant expect to just stand out wide, and wait for the ball to come to them.Frankly it shouldn’t be Wright or EMC’s job to do that, it’s what the midfield should be helping with.
They help out defensively by pressing from the front. It isn’t their game to track back and defend.Disagree they should be helping out defensively. They cant expect to just stand out wide, and wait for the ball to come to them.
so the midfielders should leave big gaps in the middle? nahThey help out defensively by pressing from the front. It isn’t their game to track back and defend.
I’m not sure why people are surprised that EMC and Wright, who’ve spent most of their careers as forwards, aren’t so good at man-marking and defensive duties.so the midfielders should leave big gaps in the middle? nah
wide players have to track back
that's not the point, they need to at least make an effort. Yes you can high press from the front but if the ball is played through or over that press the wide players need to at least try and get backI’m not sure why people are surprised that EMC and Wright, who’ve spent most of their careers as forwards, aren’t so good at man-marking and defensive duties.

I don't believe they are instructed to be tracking players back to their own penalty area tbf
2 goals in 12 matches and dropped for their last game.Has Adam Armstrong done much for them since he signed ?
He was pissing by the door. What took you so long I was waiting for that reply.
So I assume if the likes of MvE, Dasilva or Bidwell didn't get forward to help them or get crosses in that's fine because it isn't their game to get forward and attack? They help out defensively by pressing from the front. It isn’t their game to track back and defend.
they will still be expected to cover back when needed, for the hull goal the whole of the defence had shifted right so the lw needs to see that and recognise they need to coverI don't believe they are instructed to be tracking players back to their own penalty area tbf

no he wasn't, he's playing as the lcb at that point, wright needed to drop deeper at the pointNo, there wasn't anything to cover. We were not overloaded. Da Silva was just blindsided as he often is.
An important way for us to score goals is putting crosses into the box, so we need full backs who can put good ones in and thus get up and down the pitch. Wright and EMC shouldn’t be stood idle in the final third all game, but they’re not going to have defensive discipline or positional sense when all their past experience is high up the pitch. So I assume if the likes of MvE, Dasilva or Bidwell didn't get forward to help them or get crosses in that's fine because it isn't their game to get forward and attack?
Only 2 goals in 12 appearances, but that's actually more prolific than Simms has been this season.Has Adam Armstrong done much for them since he signed ?
nonsense, so they just allow teams to overload us? if the full back and 2 midfielders go forward that will give the opposition an extra man even if the 2 cdms drop back as wellAn important way for us to score goals is putting crosses into the box, so we need full backs who can put good ones in and thus get up and down the pitch. Tracking back into the middle third sure, but much further than that and you’re compromising too much.
no he wasn't, he's playing as the lcb at that point, wright needed to drop deeper at the point
but he is at that point as lati has moved into a rb position, kitching has moved to latis position and JDS then moves to Kitchings positionJust because he's tucked in doesn't mean he's playing as a centre back
They may not have the defensive discipline or positional sense when all their past experience is high up the pitch but then full backs aren't going to have the attacking nous or crossing ability when all their past experience is further back the pitch,An important way for us to score goals is putting crosses into the box, so we need full backs who can put good ones in and thus get up and down the pitch. As I asked you before, how far back do you want our forwards to track? We might well be crossing wires on this.nonsense, so they just allow teams to overload us? if the full back and 2 midfielders go forward that will give the opposition an extra man even if the 2 cdms drop back as well
that's mad tactics that no one does
Absolutely, fingers crossedYep. We’ve struggled over the line in plenty of games. Portsmouth, Oxford home and away, Stoke. Threw points away at Norwich and Hull. Our GD tells a big story too.
It’s fine if we don’t make it, because I think 25/26 will be a very good season.
this is what gets me, da silva defends like that every game So must be getting told to do that, ? Remember the old days when you defended square on,just take a step up and he’s offside, hard to do with your back to the player ?View attachment 42579
JDS is in the position he is in because of the positions of Lati and Kitching
The right back is also wide open as well so one of the attacking players needed to be more alive to that and drop into that space
The didn’t target Dasilva FFS. This must be the dumbest SBT meme.
