More optimistic having seen the line up. Was expecting a 60+% possession, a dozen corners and a 2-0 loss. But with the box I expect we'll be back to more counterattacking. Allen and Tatsu could be a very good pair of ACM's, then potentially O'Hare to come off the bench too. Fadz and Kitching hopefully offer more from set-pieces - now watch us hardly get any!

Big opportunity for Wright. At the very least he has to run the channels tirelessly and hope he can use his pace against them. If he shows what he has the last few games the ball is going to be coming back at us all night.

WBA aren't playing with a striker, it's going to be a very crowded midfield

Decent midfield, but there's very little pace at the back, and it will be interesting to see if Wright can hold the ball up and keep possession long enough for Saka and Allan to cause problems.

Looks like a nailed on 0-0 to me, and I'd probably take that given the lack of goals in that starting line up.

It depends if people can see signs of it working.

As fans, we see 2 best players sold, season ticket price increases, loads of money spent on players and absolutely terrible football making it a chore to go up when shit loads of our home games are moved to be on sky
I don't disagree except that I don't think the football has been terrible on the whole. It feels worse than it is with back to back defeats but we have definitely struggled to put together a decent 90mins all season. We've seen flashes of what could be but it's been very disjointed.

A bit of a 7 : 2 : 1 formation.
Doubt we’ll score with that lineup but who knows, it’s all a bit of a rolling selection shambles.

Would like to have seen Lati in and would've gone Simms over Wright, but hope the useless streak of piss proves me wrong

It’s just so refreshing to see a new team sheet and new formation, I clearly don’t want us to lose and don’t think it’s acceptable to lose but even if we do then at least we’ve tried something new, it’s much braver to lose trying than to lose not trying at all, such as the Rotherham game.

Pleased to see Kitching starting, the return of the box formation and Haji Wright getting a start.

PUSB :)
Agreed. Thought Kitching looked excellent against Norwich. Binks has been decent, but Kitching is our big money defensive signing. Time for him to play now. Nasty bastard from all accounts too. Exactly what we need IMO. Surprised Thomas gets the nod over Lati, but we’ll see. Strongest bench we’ve had in 20 years? Lati, Bidwell, Binks, O’Hare, Simms and Godden.

Eccles put some corners into decent areas last Wednesday but nobody attacked them. They had a bloke who headed 3 away unchallenged centrally on the edge of the 6 yard box.
They were poor. You could see the players lining up for a delivery into one area of the box, presumably things they have been working on, but Eccles delivered the ball in to the wrong areas. Hence no one attacked them. Happened in virtually every corner. Players surround the keeper, he fired it deep far post; players waiting back post, he fired it front post.

The one key thing about going with one striker up top is we’ve got to provide through balls into Wright, we’ve got to be looking to slot him through rather than lumping it up to him and hoping he can contain it whilst the rest of the team catches up with him.

Really hope we’re smarter and quicker tonight, we’ve been lacking that sharpness for a while now. I think Wright is only going to be seen to his best if we’re giving him good service.

I reckon we’ll win 2-0 tonight, Sakamoto assisting Wright for one of the goals is my hopeful prediction.

When is Bidwell ever going to get his chance this season. Especially as Da Silva really poor last game.

Probably not but I don’t know who else can take them other than Dasilva, surely anything has to be better than Eccles taking corners? Sheaf has a decent shot on him, I assume he can take corners? I realise it doesn’t always work like that but we really need to find an Eccles replacement for corners.
Allen can take them
