Hey everyone,
Just wanted to post a link to an article i wrote for the72.co.uk - a great website dedicated to the Football League (No, i'm not on commission!)
It doesn't involve anything that we don't already no but just decided to put my constant moaning ramblings and overall despair to our current situation into words. If you have a spare couple of minutes, give it a read and let me no what you think as its me first time doing any writing like this.

The strength of mind in the supporters was plain to see when a protest march through the historic streets of Coventry in the summer was supported by over 8,000 determined fans, marching against our stubborn owners and local council, and also against the authorities of our fine game, The Football League and FA whose role in the demise of my football club has been overlooked but must now been questioned.

It's not our 'fine game' and that's a point that needs to be made. Our fine game was snatched away in 1992.

It is a well written article and you have put in to words how we all feel about the dreaded move.Well done !

Good article Andy.

I think that the points you covered are indeed correct and will strike a chord with many football fans. I also believe that the only way to bring around change is to keep raising and communicating the key themes repeatedly. It is only through repetition will the message stick.

As others have posted the creation of the PL, Sky's influence etc have all had an influence, but in this case you were bang on keeping on message which is the inadequate governance of football in England. I fear the realisation of this will be too late to save us, but I wouldn't want any other fans (Including Villa and Leicester) to suffer as we have / are. Well done.

Thanks Cheshire and bringbackrattles; completely agree that we need to keep on getting our voices and concerns out there as much as we can. Hurts to have a team that i have supported half me life being ripped away from me but cannot contemplate, being only 20 myself, how it must be for fans who have been loyal supporters for over 30,40, 50 years! Its not on and is a disgrace that it has been so easily allowed to happen!
Its a shame also that you guys are probably right that it is no longer ''our' fine game and think it is troubling that supporters affinity with football in general is waning quite considerably and is something that needs to be addressed desperately.

It's created a league where only the wealthy teams can win. Remember the days when the likes of Derby, Ipswich, Watford & Forest could come through and challenge for league titles and in some cases win them. I'd have those days back any day.

The Premier League is fine for football - if you happen to be in it. It's like an old boys' club now, and the rest of the professional game diminishes by the year. As Cheshire rightly says, the incompetent and useless governance of the game has simply allowed this to happen without a whimper.

One day the money will dry up and everything will fall apart. That still looks a long way away, and City will be no more than a name in the football history books by then, I fear.

Its such a closed shop now, with the future being a predictable mix of six or seven teams who fight it out for the top four and the Title, unless some billionaire comes in a bankrolls another club.

Same old, same old year in year out, with no change in sight.

As Uli Hoeness once said, before he got done for tax dodging, 'In England you treat the football fan as a cash cow. In Germany we think that football is for everybody'. How can it be that it costs more to watch Coventry play at Sixfields than it does to watch Bayern Munich?

Fingers crossed none of Scudamore's 'brands' make it through to the semis of the Champions League and the PL is shown up for the over commercialised rubbish it really is.

What's the general cost of living over in Germany? Do they stick 20% VAT on tickets? Is there a more even distribution of funding?

I have no idea.

Edit: just found this site that compares cost of living. I think I might need to move to Germany.....

Perhaps CCFC Germany could help on that, off the top of my head I'm not sure.

These teams havnt lost out due to the Premier League, they have done nothing of note for over 30 years, maybe the odd cup final or semi here n there, the PL had no bearing on their demise, it may have some on wether they return or not (financial survival).

If you count Forest late 70`s there have only been 10 different winners of the top flight in nearly 40 years, the success of the top teams is nothing new, the PL has just made it harder for less successful (smaller) teams to get into and survive.

If the cost of living is lower that makes the ticket prices all the more admirable considering that the fans have more spare cash. It's a better run country in a lot of respects but in terms of football the gulf is embarrassing.

All this sky has killed football nonsense. I don't like the way sky operate but I wonder how many people who moan either have had it or have it now. Sky is also responsible for showing numerous sports that we wouldn't have otherwise had access to and if it gets kids in to a sport then that has to be a good thing. If you don't like it don't watch it, watch something on sky movies instead...........

BTW I'm looking forward to Sky's coverage of the masters this week rather than the BBC and the hacks they dig up to commentate.

Or you could just say congratulations to Chelsea. Few of my mates are Chelsea and I'm happy for them, as they are when we do well. Just a shame that's not often.

but importantly,
do you wish sisu to continue to control your investment, that is YOUR MONEY,
THINK ON,
imho, so far, they have been an unmitigated disaster,
appointing goons & deviants to do a job,
just ask Coventry City fans

Maybe football is no longer 'our game', but i still believe, albeit somewhat foolishly somemight say, that Coventry City is still our club and as a result we must continue the fight to try and bring us home and one of the only outlets we have to try and do this is attempt to continue to broadcast to the wider football audience our plight and the decisions/actions that have led us into this catastrophic mess.

It is still the game of the people but a fortunate few that grew up with or choose to support better or bigger get spoiled watching the best play the best, 70+ football league clubs and many below that still attract real people, real supporters week in week out, the support at such a low level most european countries would love to see their teams getting, we have quality players and leagues, if you took out the spanish Italian German and maybe 1 or 2 other leagues who competes with our setup? Not many i would guess, the gulf between the PL and the rest of England may be huge, but the gap between English football in general and most of europe is also huge, take the home nations and their leagues they are probably on par with most of europe, but have nothing on us, it is still the peoples game and it is that that keeps it strong even if comparing to the PL it really is weak.

Not foolish to believe it is still "our club" whoever the owners, it will be until the day it becomes NT Blues or whatever they name it, that is the day I will give up on supporting CCFC as my club, as my team, if i go to sixfields or not, stand on the hill, or just listen on the radio, as long as they are CCFC and there is a chance they will come home i will be supporting them believing them to be my "our" club.

Note to self, stop posting after alcoholic beverages!

When they were down and out and had 10k watching them my mates were there so I wouldn't call them plastic, would you?. Now they are successful they are more of an attraction. How many were at the Ricoh last season and how many would be there if we had a billionaire tycoon and were high up the premiership table and filling the Ricoh? Would that make to the other 20k plastic fans at the Ricoh?
