It is nothing like Wimbledon is it?

Possibly not. But Wimbledon initially ground shared with Crystal Palace before they spun off up the M1 to Milton Keynes....and weren't the people that led that Scandinavian? Gulp !

Happy? No. are they going to lose sleep over it? no chance

If it is ins SISU's interest they will move or liquidate the club if it means they get money from it.

Based on??? Hatred, lack of trust or is there something more concrete to this arguement like a fact?

I'd love to see why they would move to a smaller City which already has a Football Club, has over more than a third less population and less potential.

No but still believe in Santa Claus. Joking aside a lot of peoples opinions are based on the fact they don't trust SISU or because they hate SISU so much they can't see anything concrete in what they say, now I don't like SISU, but it has to be said there is a contractual agreement now between two parties which more concrete then personal feelings in all respect.

PMSL like the contract on the RA.....

I'm not disputing that SISU may WANT to return to the coventry area in disputing that they CAN there are alot of obstacles between here and them being able to have a stadium anywhere near coventry

I dont believe that some people think that 5 years at Northampton followed by a small stadium in Binley Woods or Ansty can be the prefered outcome for any ccfc supporter. Apart from about 10 on this site and the same on GMK the vast majority wil do all they can to get rid of SISU. If the are still here in 5 years how many fans will have followed them . Thats why its imperative we do all we can now.
When i say prefered i mean as against fighting them with a no show at Northampton

They will be gone forever, Warwickshire is a county on the other side of the city boundry, not Coventry. Once gone they are gone forever unless SISu sell up, but by that time it could be all over.

I live in Binley (when I'm in Coventry). It's a 15 min drive from the train station and a 5 minute walk from the Warwickshire boundary. Coombe Abbey is considered Coventry but is in Warwickshire. If they are looking at Brandon Speedway or Ansty, I'd say that it was close enough.

Apologies. Can you indulge me and explain why it is so different ?

Already have on my last post - bottom of page 3.

I didn't aim that comment at you personally, lots of others have made the same comparison, but it doesn't stand up to any sort of scrutiny really.

Which is more achievable then a repeat of the Wimbledon Saga..

Initially no - their move to Selhurst Park was always seen as temporary, but their move to MK was permanent. Their unscrupulous and opportunistic chairman saw the chance to move the club to a large urban area with no professional football team and build the club into something bigger (which to a certain extent he has achieved I suppose).

I just wonder where this large town is with no football team that SISU plan to move us to, a place big enough to provide them with a fan base large enough to sustain a club that can rise through the divisions in order that they can get the return on their investment they so desperately want. I mean, where is it? Because if you are going to make the Wimbledon comparison you have to tell us where that place is, because it sure as hell isn't Northampton.

It is feasible that the club could wither and die if the move lasts more than one season - and for that reason I am desperate for it to not happen, but those that declare with absolute certainty that the club will NEVER return are just being hysterical.

By the same token those who say it will definitely return may be equally mistaken. I cannot pretend to predict the future but the initial steps that have been taken are analogous to the initial steps Wimbledon took. So drawing a parallel is not so silly. I hope you are correct and my concerns are misplaced. Let me know when you know for definite. I will do likewise. Cheers.

But then I don't think a return is definite either - merely likely - but by no means certain which is why we should all fight tooth and nail to keep it here. To say, as some are, that if the club start the season in Northampton it is the end I think is premature and a bit defeatist. They are essentially saying they will give up at that point because there is no chance of the club ever returning. I'm just trying to be more optimistic, and if we do play against Bristol City at Sixfields, I say we carry on fighting and don't give up.

But you never answered my point about what we do if the Ricoh isn't available anymore. ACL is a business and despite wanting us to play in Coventry and keeping the doors open they can't do that for ever. They're at some point going to have to consider doing other things with the the stadium side and that might mean we can't go back there. So what happens then?

Apologies, I missed it. Clearly, there will come a time when ACL would have to review their business model, and if the exile looks as though it might well be years then of course, you would expect that they would look to adapt their facilities for different uses. This is why I think the one year point is crucial, because feasibly a new club could be formed in time for 2014/15, and any serious moves in that direction I think you'd see SISU scurry back. My gut feeling is that the exile will be short - but with SISU you just don't know though. But yes, go into a second season and I would fully expect that ACL would close the doors on a return - or alternatively become the home for a new phoenix club (but any such club would have to have decent financial backing, and it remains to be seen if the money men waiting in the wings would have the patience to back a long term project like that).

The contract on the Ricoh Arena was a curse..

again i agree with you but it proves the point SISU will find a way to break any contract if it's in their best interest however morally questionable those means may be.

what do they do when they are stuck in northampton with no planning permission?

either way its a huge gamble. I wouldn't gamble my car, i wouldn't gamble my house. I certainly don't want someone else gambling with my club.

Nothing, other than the fact that Irthlingborough and Rushden cannot sustain league football (as has been proven already), and as very few City fans would stick with the club in that scenario, it would leave them with a club that was barely viable with no prospect of ever achieving the kind of gates needed to sustain L1/Championship football.

I'm certainly not in the defeatist camp that say we should walk away. Well not yet :)

However, we should not be blind to the fact that the motives of those that own the club are still less than clear.

Put simply I cannot rationalise why a football club needs such a mind boggling amount of companies both on and off-shore involved in its running. Until I can do so, my suspicions are and will remain, raised.

They are further raised when friends of mine involved in similar Hedge Fund organisations suggest to me that having "distressed assets" such as Coventry City Football Club within the "portfolio" of its business can be seen as a good thing. They suggest that keeping CCFC "barely alive" and losing money could be used as a good tax avoidance vehicle for any monies they cannot effectively off shore to such places as the Camen Islands.

Again, I know not if this is correct.

Motives??? . If only we knew SISU's true motives.......

Does nobody see ACL effectively giving up on this stupid game and giving SISU the terms they want?

Surely we all know that is what SISU are trying to achieve and are most likely to get.

IMO, SISU won't give up/go/sell until they either :

a) marry the club with the Ricoh
b) house the club elsewhere

Hence I'm wanting ACL/CCC/HT to back down, allow SISU to marry the club & stadium. Then, we may just be able to wave them off into the sunset.

So to summarise we'd be screwed if we leave it so long that ACL do that - because as much as I want to believe Young Timothy, the White Elephant stadium is about as likely to happen as I am to win the lottery.

By "we", you mean the council, then:

If it's a choice between that and losing our club forever, then yes.

Remember "we" are not ACL, SISU or anyone else. "We" are CCFC supporters.
I meant 'we' as in everything to do with coventry ie us coventry fans, coventry council, local coventry charity-'we' have had our football club 'stolen', and moved to Northampton.

If ACL do back down, and sisu do finally get their hands on the ricoh.
Go on to invest a bit in the club and success follows.
How quick would we all forget about sisu ?
Look at the situation with the glazers at Man Utd?
I wouldn't forgive them but there's nobody more fickle than a football fan

I sent a tweet to @skysportsfootball asking them not to show the game if we are confirmed as the Northants 2nd 11. Worth a try.

Exactly what a friend in business said to me some time ago; surely this is the only feasible theory anyone has come up with so far? Fits in with the "if you tried to run a football club worse, you couldn't" situation. In which case, we will never prosper under SISU.

Do you have evidence to show me otherwise?

The Wimbledon fan who posted on here the other day saying "FIGHT!!!!!!! They'll never move back to Cov if they play a game in Northampton!!!!!!" is a good start..
