Both start out in the FA Cup this weekend.

In the Midland Football League prem together, but the budgets aren't in the same league though!

Ben Mackey and Kevin Thornton both taking upwards of £250 per game for Utd and they have an excellent new coach. Be interested to see how far whoever is funding them will take them, some good sides in that league, Alvechurch, Sporting Khalsa and Coleshill.

Just saying.

Shame someone didn't back Sphinx instead of United, but I do get the notion of someone wanting to create their own team from scratch.

I know some hate Cov United, but I say good luck to both of them.

I'll be up watching cov United this sunday as it's local to me , plus I know 3 of the owners personally.
They're all very much ccfc Fans , and this is their Little bit of joy to see how far they can go
They are very well backed between the 4 of them , and are proper footballing boys , they do a lot of england aways too.

They're the kind of owners you'd love here so I don't get the hate from some quarters

Cov United drew 1-1, Coleshill drew 2-2, Sphinx lost 0-5.
Being an older person, my favourite team is Norton & Stockton Ancients FC.

Full results:

This must have been quite a game:
Hailsham Town FC 5 - 7 Crawley Down Gatwick FC

Wasn't the Best game i've seen, 2 stubborn defences nullified the game somewhat.
Thornton looking very hairy and very Ginger nowadays .
Really big crowd for this level , a few hundred were there

Bedworth and Rugby enter the FA Cup for the next round (August 20th):

Bedworth United vs Rocester
Rugby Town vs Bromsgrove Sporting
Coleshill Town vs Dudley Sports
Coventry United or Shawbury United vs Lichfield City

Coventry Sphinx lost in the previous round and are out.

Cov United and Copeswood both knocked out of the FA Vase today. Uniteds second defeat in a week. Just saying.

At least United didn't suffer the indignity of a home defeat the way Copsewood did.

By the way I have no idea what 'Copsewood' is other than a destination blind on the front of a Coventry Corporation bus I often saw when growing up!

*Mrs Dutchman might argue that I never grew up. :D

It seems Cov Utd have found their level. Another defeat yesterday, firmly ensconced in mid table of the midland prem.

for a balanced view. the last 4 games theyve lost, 3 were cup i believe, they have 7 games in hand over the league leaders and currently , around 15 points behind
the 'real' leaders are westfields
they also have games in hand over the leaders, but have also won their first 10 games, but lost the last 2 in the league, so theyve hit a buffer it would seem

if both utd and westfields were to win half their games in hand they'd both be 1st and 2nd in the league
i would be surprised if utd dont get promoted this year, they do have half a team of players that played in a higher level last year

Only one goes up, that will almost certainly be be Westfields this season.
Even AFC Wimbledon didn't get promoted every season with their support, spent 3 seasons in tier 7.
If they finish top 6 I think the momentum will be picked up again next year.
