Coventry v southampton boycott (3 Viewers)

Agree totally. Unfortunately, there are people, including a few on here, who really cannot stand anyone who has an opposing view.

My take was, I'm going because I support my team. That doesn't mean I'm a SISU fan, I'm not. But I think in our current predicament the Club needs me more than ever. Myu view to those who wish to boycott was (and I quote) Each to their own. I wouldn't say that they were a "prick" for not going, but that's what I got.

I just don't think there's any need. Like you say, we all support the same team and have the same aims for our team.

Just a shame that some are too immature to accept other viewpoints.

I am sure Torchy won't be alone - there will be a others who feel the same. We live in a democracy and he is entitled to his opinion just as you are entitled to yours and they can be polar opposites. The one thing to remember above all else is that we are all supporters who love the club, the real "enemy" in all this is SISU. If we spend all our time bickering and name calling amongst ourselves then the only winners will be SISU. Those of us who believe in a boycott and wish to act upon it do it, tell people that your doing it, ask others to join in but respect their decision should they chose not to. This website represents but a tiny percentage of supporters and I am sure if you handed out leaflets about a boycott on Saturday you would get an awful lot more refusing to join in. What is important is that there is a significant enough number not going and/or protesting outside the ground to make an impact and make a point to the board. Remember its OUR club, yours, mine, Torchys' but its not Dulieus or SISU's or some faceless trusts in the Cayman Islands.

Has anyone had any response from any of the media about this? Do we need to be more organised? Have we got a spokesperson who the media can be directed to so they have one point of contact? If this is ever going to work we need to do it properly or it will be an embarrassing failure and SISU will just carry on laughing at us. Is it running out of steam already I wonder?

Jon Gaunt who I've already been in contact with has promised to mention it on his next public appearance or Radio appearance (Still not too sure what he does these day's?). A couple off my work colleagues and me have been tweeting numerous high profile football personal in the hope of spreading the word. And I've also had a steady response on the Facebook page i created and census does seem to be that this is a good idea and one that will make the best impact with the intentions of shifting SISU!

Only response I have had was from Kev Monks who will not be backing it officially as the stance of his website is to encourage people to attend Cov City matches and to back a boycott would leave him open to accusations of hypocrisy. I disagreed as I am sure people would understand a one off change of policy as he is certainly no lover of SISU but he was adamant so we agreed to disagree.

at the end of the day its each to their own.

if ppl want to attend and support the team then fair enough and fair play.

this protest is to show sisu exactly what we think of them and to show them that if they remain here next season then this is what to expect.

as soon as the season tickets come our for sale next season we should not renew them either, start starving sisu of cash they will soon be wanting rid of ccfc especially if it means they are gonna have to dig in to their own pockets to pay off the loan they took out based on next years season ticket sales.

they dont like spending their own money do they.

Im behind this 100% and the page is being banded around facebook left right and centre. We need to find other ways of getting this out to Cov fans!

Maybe as many of us as possible should print off onto a4 SISU OUT and details of the boycot on the reverse and get as many up and around the Ricoh on match days as possible??

I only ever buy a programme at the first game of a new season. Never buy another.

but if you do ...

dont by the program... support the team

I'd be up for this but only if it was organised and publicised properly. As it is now, i stumbled across it on this little-read forum, then had to trawl through 16 pages to find all the details. That isn't good enough and it will only reach a tiny minority. And after all that, i still don't know if the plan is to stay away entirely, or if it's to protest outside the ground, or what. What needs to happen, and happen right now so that there's time to get the word around, is proper organisation. We need to:
1. Make sure everyone that wants to get involved is doing exactly the same thing,
2. Make sure the info about it reaches as many people as possible, as soon as possible.

Someone (i presume Brinner would want to do this, since it was he who started this thread), needs to write up explicit instructions for the day, and to get those plans distributed such that they get to as many fans as possible as soon as possible. A starting point may be to write up a list of bullet points with all the required info, whack it all in bold font, and put it in a sticky at the top of this forum. Treat that writing as a set statement to get out through as many channels as possible. Attach copies of the statement to messages sent to all areas of interest in the local media (and beyond?). Get it posted up in a facebook event and get it spread around. Put it up on a web page and start getting everyone to link that page on twitter. All of that and more.

And finally, recognise that whilst digital media such as forums, facebook, and twitter are a great way to get some momentum behind ideas like this, they are only a starting point. If you're serious about getting this going, this needs to get into the print media. And it needs to happen soon; a month isn't a long time!

That's my two cents on it! I look forward to seeing if anything happens along these lines. It can't be half-arsed, else it won't work. But if this starts to snowball a bit and starts to look like it's going to happen, I'm definitely in.

Good points there, Jimthor.

Looking at the CT today (Tuesday) it looks like they would be very sympathetic to reporting the boycott - that would raise the profile.

Trouble is, unless Brinner is getting his picture taken for the local paper, or an potential appearance on Sky he's not interested. It's all about feeding the Brinner ego and yet these mugs lap it up.

Kulinski is a grade A tosspot

Coming from you that's a real compliment.

As opposed to your successful campaign? Which has resulted in the sum total of a couple of days in London acting up outside SISU HQ, and being told to "f**k off". I bet SISU are positively crapping themselves.

SISU must know the game is up when they see all the stickers at the Ricoh, you'll be getting t-shirts made next, showing them you really mean business.

I'd rather support the players on the pitch than have my ego massaged. But best of luck and don't forget your fire safety certificate.

Brinner - the point about explicit instructions still stands though.

Is the plan to turn up and protest outside - or to stay away totally?

Admin - when then need this as a sticky on the forum.

Fair play to whoever protests but to think a protest will get sisu out I doubt it.
These kind of people do not really give a flying shit about the club, the fans or the city, they will only go when they want to and not until.
They may not like it but I doubt very much it will have any adverse effect on there stance regarding when they sell the club.
This is not being derogitory to those involved just think you should just protest PEACEFULLY and don't get your hopes up too much that you will make them leave because of a little bit of media coverage.
We are not man u, liverpool or Arsenal etc and are only a small midlands club at the bottom of the championship so do not be disappointed with very little national media coverage.
All I will say is that those who turn up for the protest to it right and have total utmost respect for those entering the game through the turnstiles because there passion for OUR club is just as much as yours and some have been following THERE team a lot longer than some who will be protesting.
I will be interested in numbers who turn up though and stick around come kick off time.

well me and gaz are going to turn up still and stand by jimmy with me sisu out banner, have a beer in the casino and protest again at the end.

if ppl want to do the same then thats great, gaz knows a guy from itv who may be able to film us outside the ground and all the empty seats inside :D would be good to see on the fa cup highlights programme after.

problem is would we get 1000 or so turn up and do the same??

As has been mentioned and this should not be just left up to brinner, if those who want to protest should pm each other or something or someone take this by the horns and say right we are meeting at 2.30 at the jimmy hill statue and we are having an outside protest
until 3.30.
At the moment I do not think anyone knows what is happening when.
So there you go a suggestion above

Have said this earlier in this thread and put the question how many turned up last time?
Also put it is like organising a weekend away with the lads one saturday and everyone up for it then next saturday comes and only 3 turn up.
Peoples minds change and the can not be bothered feeling arises and people go to the match instead anyway.
This is not saying people will not turn up but just a fact of life.

Posted my thread about the same time as you brinner, what I was saying was that someone not just yourself should be taking the bull by the horns and coming up with some suggestions.
I won't be there mate unless someone wants to pay for me to turn up by all means I would protest all fin day, but alas, I live in spalding lincolnshire with a family and was made redundant but I did the same kind of thing years ago as I put a thread ages ago where a protest with me and my mates and it became a one man stand but I stood up for what I thought was right and vowed never to go again due to how we as fans were being bleed dry by the then people in charge and how all they cared about was money and not the TRUE FANS does not mean I support them any less still miss the feeling on a saturday especially when we went to away matches.
But good luck with it all think your going to need it and hope it does not end up like my stance.

Brinner....... Send me a template for the leaflets you are printing and i will print them off at work and happily stand at the subway near the Ricoh @ 2:00 handing them out. Just state clearly on them the details of the protest and obviously in big black bold letters the words SISU OUT!!!

I would urge everyone to make a banner and bring it along then at 3:10 unveil it. If we all do this at the same time it will be very effective as oppose random banners being shown throughout the game.
